if the numbers don’t matter then the number of zeroes don’t matter. You can’t have it both ways.
Keeping in mind this is pre alpha
The number represents the scaling, so yes, the amount of zeroes matter.
The reason the numbers themselves do not matter is, lets say you deal 100,000 at lvl 1, and 300,000 at lvl 50, then that is 3X scaling. That is not out of hand (heck, it would be too low).
But we already know we wont deal 100,000 at lvl 1. Which makes the scaling insane, if you can reach 300,000.
Which unfortunately means the scaling is likely to only get even wilder before release, when more systems are added.
now wheres the blue post? i dont wanna waste my keyboard
Just wait a few years for the power creep to come.
Hah, yeah sadly. But at that point we will be dealing 1 quadrillion dmg at lvl 50 as well.
Which would be nothing compared to what we’ll deal at level 100.
Items: 0/10
Paragon: 5/10
Visuals: 10/10
(tho sound effects are still underwhelming)
Visuals only won’t be able to carry their game among the competition. The market will be fierce in 2023/2024 and D4 might be too outdated for it.
Won’t argue with that. Especially taking into account magnificient UE5 projects.
Generally speaking, I keep looking at all these updates, all these demos and vids… and I think I perfectly know how D4 endgame will feel like: exactly as present state D3. Unfortunately game copied too much from it and this won’t change now.
Well, D4 paragon is a lot better than D3s. However, being good and being optimal are two different things. I think being good in 2023 won’t make it.
Another thing I missed.
One of the normal affixes on the legendary item is 16% strength… seriously.
So much for attributes coming from the character.
On the positive side, dmg ranges on weapons are back.
And, attack/defense seems to be gone from amulets? Hooray.
By endgame I mean not paragon mechanics, but the actual gameplay. Just go play D3 now and this is exactly what you ll get in D4.
With Strenght
misspelled which means the item is not genuine.
Well, we have to give them credit for the endgame. They haven’t showed much.
Good point, all the items look like the usual mockups. The font is also looking off.
Still, someone thought it was a bright idea to write 16% strength on the mockup nonetheless.
Which is worrying.
Sadly, it also means that Attack and Defense might still be around
Ye, ye. But well, I have a really bad feeling about all that.
At least, I hope, campaign will be interesting enough to play it once or twice.
Damn the level design is exactly what I want in a game… I think it looks awesome…
did we actually see female druid for the first time?
the mom body
This. Reminds me of Final Fantasy X which I loved.
Over all, this is actually the first time I am excited for D4.
Agreed, I too like to know those things as they are an absolute dealbreaker.
On the imagine it says “Allowed item types” so it does seem like the powers only works for the slots they can drop with.
Also, what’s up with the druid? Looks like the tavern drunk tossing spells around. I don’t know which fantasy they’re drawing inspiration from but lets trim them down a little bit shall we? All in all, a lot more useful info then I expected but there are some key details that will decide whether the paragon board system is promising or not.
332000 damage in 1 hit from rogue blizzard reduce it by 2 zeroes minimum!
