PoE devs, who have much much more credit than present blizz devs, made special PVP arena and different PVP modes in their game. And it turned out nobody wants to play that. Mark my words, D4 PVP will meet exactly same fate. PVP in D4 is just a marketing, not more than that.
Exactly, thankfully it will only be in the Fields of Hatred and you do not need to waste your time with it if you do not want to. I do not need some goofy dweeb interfering with me when I am trying to accomplish something.
They also have a talent tree system that gives you an aneurysm after you research it for 3 days before you can even start playing. No serious pvp player in their right mind would ever think this could be balanced and it doesn’t appeal to a lot of ARPG fans let alone PVP fans.
All this is, is classic hate posting from people who are probably just bad at pvp and somehow think because they don’t like something, it shouldn’t even exist and no one else should get to enjoy or play it. Well think again cause pvp is gonna be HUGE in D4 and I cannot wait!
I don’t even feel like I accomplished anything if I’m not using all the power I earned for a worthy challenge. No boss or mob ai will ever come close to the difficulty of facing a real player. Beating real players is something to actually hold up as an accomplishment or getting high arena rank. Anyone can beat the game on hell mode and farm gear. And anyway just turn pvp off. And maybe they think you’re a goofy dweeb cause you can’t handle pvp KEK.
Diablo has never been about being able to handle pvp or not. It’s been a case of: oh look another duper or oh look another 10k paragon player.
Have you played Diablo 2? Plus this doesn’t make you good at pvp. You have to get gud.
Oh and one more thing.
Lost Ark are developing new content for pvp, have pvp islands/zones and are adding world pvp!
I feel this is much more representative of the wider ARPG fanbase and pvp is doing spectacularly over there. LOADS of people want to play it and love pvp in Lost Ark.
It will do fantastically in D4 if the devs give it the TLC it deserves. There is clearly, demonstrably, a large player base for pvp in ARPG’s and will bring many many more players to the game.
Yes i have played Diablo 2. I put thousands of hours in (played it more than i played D3) and barely got any drops. I had to trade to get gud as you say. I still couldn’t beat dupers and players who bought ‘perfect’ gear. Can’t say i did pvp in D3 except once accidently on an open game and got 1 hit by an extremely high paragon player.
Hmm, well I do feel for you in this instance.
It was actually the first thing I mentioned in the original post.
I hate p2w and cheating. Blizz definitely need to make a big effort to ban players that cheat, or pvp and ladder or even just bragging rights and looking cool in town, will be kinda pointless.
No one likes p2w unless you do it yourself.
What’s wrong with someone who wants to buy cosmetics to look cool, it’s not p2w?
I do buy cosmetics and mounts in games so im guilty there, however i don’t purchase boosts to xp as what’s the point in playing?
I don’t even like paid for cosmetics in mmo’s or online arpgs. It devalues all the effort you put into earning things in the real game. I also think it’s extortionate to charge for name changing or switching servers. But I guess we can only change so much…
At the very least I would like to see cheating, p2w and paid for cosmetics not to be a thing in D4.
Everyone’s walking around in their awesome gear then some paid cosmetic andy strolls in with a $40 skin, just ruins the whole thing for me.
Well most games make money this way so it’s pretty much in all games. You can always log out and join a different game if you don’t like someones cosmetics.
D4 will have no p2w apparently but much has changed at Blizzard so who knows. There will be cosmetics and mounts though.
This doesn’t solve anything. I could log back in and see MORE people with cosmetics.
If cosmetics are going to be something hard to earn in game, then there shouldn’t be paid for cosmetics that look comparable or better than the in game ones. Some basic mid tier skins to make someone look slightly better than starting gear I could just about stomach. But end game looking stuff, HELL no ty.
There will be cosmetics and mounts you can only achieve through playing the game as well as buy.
This goes without saying
Unfortunately it’s always about the money but i’m pretty sure people will see someone who earned their cosmetics/mounts and think they look better anyway than paid for ones.
They also have a talent tree system that gives you an aneurysm after you research it for 3 days before you can even start playing. No serious pvp player in their right mind would ever think this could be balanced
No serious PVP players play ARPG for pvp. And no ARPG can ever be balanced for good pvp. If you want to know how pvp game must be balanced - go look at MOBAs (and then compare that to ARPG games).
That’s where you are wrong. It just takes time and effort to balance. And serious pvp players do play ARPGs for pvp. Look at New World. It’s an online mmo style rpg very similair to all the things people like in Diablo games, and it has a MASSIVE focus on pvp. Shroud plays it. Loads of serious pvp players jumped into classic wow purely because the pvp scene was so good. The amount of effort people put into getting High Warlord or Grand Marshall in wow classic is crazy.
Lost Ark I’ll mention again also has a massive focus on pvp with all the content they are adding.
You’re simply wrong and I believe are just hoping some dev reads your post and decides to cancel all future work on any pvp cause apparently nobody likes or plays it according to just you rofl with no evidence provided whatsoever except your opinion. Where as I have provided plenty.
You’re simply wrong and this is just wishful, floundering conjecture.
Unfortunately for you it looks like pvp will have plenty of development time and I’m very, very happy this is the direction Diablo 4 devs are taking the game.
People claimed that PvP in ARPGs is neither balanced or good.
Your counter-argument appears to be “Nuh-uh, because PvP works in MMOs!”
No they claim that NO as in ZERO serious pvp players play rpgs for pvp. Simply not true.
And that it CAN’T as in it’s IMPOSSIBLE for any ARPG pvp to EVER be able to be balanced and made fun. Again, simply not true.
If you were arguing that faster than light travel is impossible I’d say you have a case and perhaps refer you to the alcubierre drive for an interesting discussion however, stating these two things as fact is demonstrably false and it’s really not hard to imagine a dev team taking the time to do so, as plenty already do. Instead what we have is a boring discussion where hate posters come to try and take pvp down, probably because they’ve had their butts kicked every time they attempt it. It’s sad you have to try and take other peoples enjoyment away by pretending that pvp is IMPOSSIBLE in an ARPG because you don’t have the smarts to play it, but It’s well within the realm of possibilty and plenty of pvp players enjoy online rpgs for pvp.
So again, these statements, including yours are simply not true and this is very easily provable with facts and logic.
And anyway what’s wrong with my argument of saying that pvp works in multiple other games. That’s just a good argument.
I played an MMO called Rift by Trion Worlds for around six years. Not only did I take part in PvP, I was actually decent enough at it that I got shard-first achievements for earning some of the PvP items…
I, as a Defiant hero, killed plenty of Guardian heroes both in warfronts and in the open world. It’s why I got this…
I enjoy PvP, but only in genres where it makes sense, e.g. an MMO. This doesn’t translate well into ARPGs and, in ARPGs where it’s been tried, it’s generally failed, hard. The vast majority of ARPG players don’t want to engage in PvP. They have zero interest in it, and the reason some are so vociferously against developers spending too much time on it is because time spent on that, balancing for that, coming up with gear / cosmetics for that, is time they’re not spending on making the PvE side of things better, which 100% of players want.
Try this…
Full body contact tackling works fine for rugby, so it’d work fine in ice dance too.
That’s analogous to what you’re saying, i.e. because something works for MMOs, it should work for ARPGs. You’re comparing apples to oranges.
Dude no one cares about your Rift achievements lol. You have to reinstall to show me this?
Both ARPGs and mmos have almost identical classes and itemisation. There’s really very little difference between mmos and ARPGs in terms of gameplay apart from control method and now you can play Diablo on pad anyway. I wouldn’t be surprised if they put wasd controls in too.
MMOs translate very easily to ARPGs and would make a fine pvp game for lots of hungry pvp players to flock to. The issue is no ARPG has done pvp very well. Diablo 2 has kept a pvp scene alive though still because clearly players who play ARPGs especially Diablo like pvp. It’s no secret that not a lot of people who want to play D4 enjoy D3 at all or even play it. Or even play POE for that matter. Many have tried but we’re still looking for something else.
And like I said Lost Ark is having great success with pvp and is continuing to put time and development into it because this is what modern gamers want. Battle Royale is extremely popular as is Overwatch and tons of other pvp games. If a good rpg with good pvp exists players will play it. Too often Blizzard only seek to please the old crowd of players that want “no changes” and no innovation at all. And they wonder why people left Shadowlands in droves. Instead of treading the same tired old path I’m glad Blizz finally seem to be trying to actually make a new modern game with all the new features that ALL gamers want. Not just the vocal minority of hardcore old blizz fans, the type that might have 10k posts for instance. This isn’t bringing anyone new into the game.
And remember, no pvp player is trying to take anything away from pve players. Ofc we want pve to be good and exist I very much enjoy this too. But why should all pve players get their way and extinguish something that many players desire greatly for D4. Anyway it’s coming so you lost bud sorry to tell you. And I’m sure the numbers will speak for themselves when you see how many people play pvp in D4.
And this is clearly overblowing my argument to extreme proportions I’m not even going to bother addressing it.
