If you watch the quick video with Matt Cedarquist, his exact words are “Major updates across ALL of our titles, including Diablo 2: Resurrected.”
Also, look at his title, “Legacy Lead for Diablo” legacy including all titles NOT DI or D4. There is also a video from a Diablo Immortal guy specifically calling out DI updates for the presentation.
I think D2R gets the specific call out, because the major update will be more major than the rest for a lot of the core legacy Diablo fanbase.
It would be nice to get a small update for D3, such as some new Legendary items maybe. But, to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if D3 gets nothing. The 30th Anniversary spotlight for Diablo is on the 11th February, so we still have 5 more days to figure out and see if official word hints at it at some point. Most likely, if we are not seeing any blog post about Diablo 3 for the 30th Anniversary subject in a day or two, you can drop it.
You know what? I’m gonna take a chance and say they’ll give us “something” for D3.
What, exactly, I don’t know. Obvious big-ticket wish-list items would be Altar in non-season, balance update, or even some new stuff altogether (even if it’s just xmogs). Maybe they’ll revamp the graphical infrastructure to support DLSS. Or, maybe they’re just gonna give us double gobbos, or switch up the seasonal rotation.
Something’s telling me though, we’re getting something. I got a feeling about it, ya know? Could just be something I ate earlier, but a boy can dream…
Noone talking bout theese 2 maps wich has got graphical updates? I dont know their names, but 2 maps has got new crisper graphics, not every time, but a seldom time u get this new graphic. Weird noone talk bout this, specially since anneversary 11th. I definitly think there will be something for d3, they said they would just rerun seasons, and suddenly, few weeks before 30th anniversary new graphics pop up?
Well I think Blizzard have/had a great chance to get some +++ in reputation when it comes to show that they care about the player base. especially since ppl been asking for Altar/Visions in NS for years and still today fresh threads about it popping up and wishes for it. Or they can continue ignoring it.
I feel the same as you; I was quite disappointed that there wasn’t even a mention of one of their games that sold over 30 million copies and has so many players every time it logs in. At least a tiny announcement would have been nice. In fact, I think just giving us the Altar in non-season would make many of us happy.
How unusual for them to do this this year. While DI is still receiving minor updates every two weeks and major updates every 3 months, they almost never make announcements together with the D4 update. They usually do it separately on their own channel. For DI and D4 to make their announcement about their upcoming updates together is rather an unexpected move, and I am sure no one sees this coming either.
More surprisingly to me is that D2R actually gets a major update after being in maintenance mode for years.
Well, at least there is something to look forward to on 11th Feb.
Witness what’s next for Diablo Immortal, Diablo IV, and Diablo II: Resurrected during our 30th Anniversary Spotlight on February 11 at 2PM PT.
That was the text on Twitter. To which i promptly replied :
enough people still play Diablo 3 every season that it should warrant at least 1 small patch every once in a while. I’m not talking about adding more content, that’s for sure not going to happen but some number tweaks here and there would do wonders for the health of the game
Is it too much to ask for a lil nudge for some underused items , a small tweak here or there, you won’t even need to do another PTR . Something to acknowledge we still exist.
And sadly some of them have powers that are worse versions than the current legendary pool ones (since the theme still uses some “legacy” legendary effects)…
They should at least fix that.
It is not quite there, the combat still is better in D3. The monster AI enhancements were fluff and unnoticeable — stuff like that mostly works in games like D2.
The Tower didn’t feel fun to me, which is surprising considering how much I cared for leaderboards here.
I’ll give it another shot when the full expansion drops, with cube and improved skill trees.
