D4 option on item drops

Would you like to see an option in Diablo 4 (that can be turned on or off) that allows item’s for other classes, or other stats, to drop? Similar to how Diablo 2 was, where you would be on a Barb and would consistently find gear usable for other classes. I know this happens in Diablo 3, but does not happen nearly as often as it did in Diablo 2.

Not turned off as such, but Do still find with D3s itemization that finding a great item for a class/build you don’t like to play is frustrating.
If I could drop that item in a Guild/Clan Bank I would do so it trading permitted it.
In short D4s itemization should be better then it will not be as much of a problem.

In D3 trading is non existent, so their is little point to getting other class drops. With trading in place, these items find use, if only to trade for other items. D4 should allow for any and all item types to drop, to encourage trading in game… unless the trading becomes toxic (like auction house) and then needs to stop.

Finding gear for all the classes should really just be the default. No option to turn it on/off.

I would be interested in a crafting system, where you could craft potions that affects your drops though.

Like “Potion of Gloves Finding”, increasing Gloves droprate for 1 hour. Heck, maybe even more specific “potion of fire resist affix finding” increasing the chance that gear spawns with fire resist.

One major reason items should not spawn for your class only is that gear should not be as simplistic as in D3. A lot of the gear should be class agnostic, being useful for all kinds of builds across classes.

If they ever change their current leaning on trading, finding gear for all classes should just be the only setting.

But if they’re not I think it’d work better as an option. If I have to play self-found then I want to gear up my characters by primarily playing those characters and I don’t want to feel like I’ve wasted half my drops because they’re for a Druid or Barbarian and I want to play a Sorceress.

For gear that’s class independent(which should be more the case if they’re doing away with mainstat) then that should just always drop.

There are those that like to trade and be social and there are those that don’t. It isnfrustrsting getting a Wizardr drop on my Crusader. But I stash it incase I want to try a Wizard.

I don’t want a system where I am forced to be social and trade just to progress with my only other option is to farm for ever to find good gear like Vanilla D3. I would take the 10% off class drops maybe even 15% if it still means I can have meaningful progression on my own without having to waste dozens of hours to find 1 good item.

I understand the effort/reward structure but I need something other than an item not from my class that I have to look for trade partners to get the reward. That should be a viable option for those that want though.

As soon as I read it I was thinking someone will just complain my Barb keeps getting Druid and Sorc Fire Resist drops or I still cannot get the Fire Resist in the slot I need.
But it’s nice way to start thinking of more uses for Potions.

What about an Items gambling System, a vendor in a Pub is going from Town to Town so they may not be there all the time. But you give them maybe a few of your unwanted items
trying to keep them of the same tier and you will get a class based item in return.
The more of the same slot governs you getting that slot back, It’s always going to be RND based but a different way to get items.
If need be stop it after X times a day or after X levels so it’s not used for end game.
The vendor could say I just don’t find items of such great power to trade.

How about drops from mobs don’t favor any class, but gamble has about 70% rate to get your class items?

So like Kadala but you trade unwanted items for a chance at something useful. I like it.

Account-associated drops?

If I necro main, and I get gear for barbarian, I would like option to keep said drops for a future point in time should I wish to play barbarian thence.

If my choice is not to barb laterthence, then I would like to AH the items.

My choice it should be, not the devs and not the diablo marketing department.

Unless you know something about the gear drops that the rest of us don’t or something that I missed. I don’t remember them saying that D4’s drops will be like D3’s as far as having smart loot where it will drop for the class that you are playing.

Now when you are teaming the loot will drop for your character. But still that is private loot not necessarily smart loot. D3 vanilla even had private loot. Don’t get the two confused.

Yessss. With the inclusion of trading we can once again see loot for all classes once again! Item drops are going to be interesting again <3

There should be no trading. But all items should still drop for all classes.

Because of this.

World loot only ! NO individual loot this will destroy the game ! just like d3

This seems contradictory to me. :no_mouth: I see Diablo 2, then I see Diablo 3 :eyes:. If items for all of the classes start dropping and the game needs to give me what I need to progress as well, won’t we have loot raining even more than Diablo 3? Maybe I’m wrong but I don’t want another Diablo 3 loot-fest. It just sounds like the game will have to please me more often?

Trading in games like WoW has made me numerous friends. Diablo 2 was also better for having trading. I love trading! I love profession “trading” with other players. I just love being able to advertise what I have and having people send me offers. I love crafting something amazing and seeing what I can get for it on the market! It’s another layer of fun on top of demon slaying fun  It sort of feels like it’s one thing I can customize and personalize that’s fully under my control. :nail_care:

Well, for one, we could easily progress at 1-5% of the speed of D3, considering how silly fast D3 is.
Two, hopefully gear is way more open-ended, so you can progress with various gear and not just 1 specific item in each slot based on a set. Most items should not be ‘class items’.

So I dont see a reason items should rain from the sky D3 style, but the droprate would have to be somewhat decent of course.

I hate trading. Pretty much kills any interest I might have otherwise had in a game. It is simply not a fun thing to do. I might as well repeatedly bash my head into a wall then.

If it’s that bad for you you really shouldn’t do it! Really, we’re only forced to trade with the non-player characters in town. I sometimes go months without trading with people because sometimes I just like playing by myself :upside_down_face:

Problem is if the game is designed around trading, with extremely low droprates-
