Well, could think of a one which “solidify corpse” is the name
Basically targets you kill become a stone-like statue preventing other mobs move over/under for a while… Who knows, might add some combat-strategic value, or maybe some would like to make the battlefield look like an abandoned museum sometimes
OK, let’s see how that might work. Let’s assume Teleport costs 20 mana, and each new usage increases it’s cost
Let’s assume you want to use the TP five times in a row and you have 100 mana max ? (sounds reasonable), but each new TP costs 4 more (or 5 more) mana than previous use. So you use 4 of them immediately, 20, 24, 28, 32 ?, whoops, turns out you can’t use the 4th immediately either, so you use only 3 and wait a few sec. till the 4 missing mana regens itself back (assuming you have a decent rate), then - you “potion up” and right around the corner a new pack of nasty elite chasers appear
What you do ?, you fight them for a while hoping that the TP “curse” will expire off and you’ll be able to “safely” use the TP at least 3-4 times (like you did previously), or you continue with your penalty of “36, 40”, then potion again, then “44, 48” (oops drat, can’t even use more than twice now)
See how completely retarded your “solution” is ?
Not only it’s clunky and inconsistent, but ALSO there are lots of other balancing factors to be taken in consideration… Such as:
- What is the condition to “reset” the TP cost back
- What is the duration of the TP “curse”
- Mana-regen rate (though mild, can play some role in “close shave” situations)
- Mana-potion recharge rate
And speaking about the first one: What is the condition to reset the TP cost back to normal ?, expires all by itself ?, gets “recharged” fast by killing some stuff ?, not using a mana potion within some period resets the cost faster ?, not taking damage for X perhaps ?. If it’s mob-kills, what happens to the TP as a skill in a boss-fight ?, if it’s just self-expiration thingy, what happens if mobs with charge or teleport themselves appear ?, if it’s “not taking damage” every single spit from a T1 mob will punish you greatly, if it’s not using mana potions, you’d better accept the cost for auto-attack battle only for some time instead of just have a god-damn plain-straightforward CD (with no strings attached what-so-ever while at it)
I mean no ofense, just accept the CD as a very-elegant very straightforward solution and there’s no need to go through all that “nuancing” and inconsistencies
