So, just an idea that occurred to me after reading about how someone didn’t like charms due to them filling their inventory:
From the demo we have seen that the current inventory has divisions, regular items, potions, quest items all had their own inventory.
Using that idea why not having a charm pouch? With like 5 or so slots for charms, limiting their amount would and isolating them would both make them less annoying and more decisive I think.
One important point is the modifiers found on them, I feel like limiting them to magic and rare rarities would add more complexity/variance of options.
They could also be used to adapt a build to a situation. About to fight a boss with lots of fire damage? Change 1-2 charms with the ones with fire resistances, without the need to change your actual set.
I feel like this would be a cool addition to the game if properly developed.

I have watched so much it’s all starting to become a blur, I think they said that we would have hundreds of runes but I could be wrong.
Hm, I think I watched all the panels and don’t remember them mentioning charms on D4, was it during an interview with a streamer maybe?
Rhyker talked to a dev and they said there were currently no Charms.
I would love a charm inventory with like 5 of each sized charm slots. Could even do a mythic Charm.
Reminds me of runewords. They are throwing away god tier systems they already built. They work so hard trying to make new crafting systems, when Runewords are the end all crafting system. Just balance well and you are set!

charms aren’t a bad idea, but I don’t want to be forced to use a crazy amount of charms to be good. I like the idea of the Hellfire Torch and Annihilus, but that’s pretty much the only type of charms I want in D4… I dont want 40 x 3dmg/20ar/20vit
At one point I thought they were kicking this idea around in d3 before release. Talisman charms or such, as OP stated. Were going to be in a pouch. So you still can’t throw all in there, but it’s a separate ui that doesn’t take up space. I think this would be cool, and you could re-work the charms, so you’re not just stacking +1 to all skills. I know that was everyone’s main complaint with d2 charms, besides inventory of course.
Who complained about +skill charms? They were awesome. It was really difficult to get the correct tree skill on a charm solo. Only Unique charms gave +all skills and you could only have 1 each.
Pretty sure the only thing people, including myself complained about was inventory space. But that would be solved with a charm pouch. Charm is identified in your inventory and equipped when put into the pouch.

I like the idea of an mythic charm until I think that everyone (that gets one) will end up using it if it’s something like d2.
I thought I read someone complaining that this was all you did. Personally as you and I have both agreed upon. Would love to see a charm pouch! I stacked some charms when I played, but I was never really looking at guides when I was playing d2. So everything seemed pretty cool to me.
Well if the Mythic Charms are like Mythic items, there could be many of them and you choose the one that suits your build. Could either have its own dedicated slot, or if not it could just take up one of your small, large or grand charm slots.
I’ve read worse ideas this week. Not bad.
Sure it’s an idea for the new game, but it’s not some made up concept from players. It exists in Diablo 2, and it was a very loved system with a few downsides (Inventory space).
MXL uses charms that you get from top tier content as well as an upgradeable class charm and level challenge charm.
Even with the incredibly enhanced inventory space, carrying them all still takes up about half of it so I’m not against a bag.
What if they aren’t charms though. They are in a sense. But what if you could collect the heads of top tier bosses and carry them around in a bag. They would grant special bonuses, like charms.
To me personally, I don’t really care if they change what they are. I just like that they would be there is some way. I wouldn’t even mind if some charms were boss heads or whatever. Like Head of Diablo, Tyraels Wing. Would be fine to me.
I do think charms themselves are very well received in the Diablo community. Like how when they added runes again the marking were nearly Identical. People like that stuff. Some like Sol could use some work, but I loved it.
The scrapped Talisman idea from “Diablo” 3 https://www.diablowiki.net/images/3/32/Talisman_full.png is what you’re asking for pretty much.
To the surprise of no one the only decent idea was scrapped from “Diablo” 3 LOL!

pretty much that seems like it would be good. If they could fit it at the bottom of the equipment screen it would be golden.
Oh damn, that means that the idea was already rejected once, bad news for me haha
Hardcore was originally not in “Diablo” 3 as the devs didn’t like the idea of HC. Unfortunately the devs are only taking some visual cues from Diablo and Diablo II but none of the system designs…Mostly gonna be “Diablo” 3 all over again but with a different art style from the looks of it
A slot for a charm is no different from an additional item slot, it’s just like having extra pair of boots. People who complain don’t want the advantage of charms without the drawback. I prefer the creativity to let the people manage the entire inventory.
I don’t think again, that Blizzard should tell us how to play the game.
We must have a debate about quality of life, are they good? I don’t think they are. I think “quality of life” is a myth that removes decision making.
Sort of…Charms in D2 had dimensions, which made it necessary to arrange them in your inventory in such a way as to allow you to pick-up other items while providing the bonuses you desired.
This Tetris-like quality added another dimension to outfitting your character that is absent with basic equipment slots. Whether this is good or bad will vary from person to person.
But I think it would be interesting if any future charms came in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Making the decisions on which to keep perhaps more difficult and tedious but would provide a sort of mini-game in itself.
