it seams you are super knowledgable, would you say I should just wait and be patient or should I try something like uninstalling and reinstall? do you think that would even work. Also, how do we know if Blizzard knows about this issue
I think a GM or MVP could give us any smoke signal. Afterall, I paid for this game in the past. Any feedback, even ~we broke a dll so you could go to D4~ should be nice.
If you are on macOS and are on an Intel Mac, wait it out. If you plan on updating your operating system and are on an Intel Mac, do not go past Monterey. Ventura and later break graphics in pretty spectacular fashion and are absolutely detrimental for non-M-Series Macs. But I’d hold off on the OS update for now as this appears to be purely a file related issue, not an OS one as I had originally thought.
If you are on an M-Series Mac (Apple M1, etc.), update to the latest OS as that does provide bugfixes. Apple is only really actively testing and fixing the OS on their ARM64 Macs and leaving Intel to wither and rot with continuously accumulating bugs.
They didn’t break a DLL. If you are on Windows, there is a fix here.
If you are on macOS, wait for Blizzard to fix the info.plist file. The workaround found by chipzz is complicated and is an expert level fix.
Well, did that, restated pc and no launch. Thats it. Going to bg3 waiting blizz to fix it.
Oooops, did that, restarted pc AND now I made an scan in the game. Hit play and it LAUNCHED.
Thank you very much @TheTias
@TheTias
I’m running sierra too and it won’t launch , starts to then stops
Playing on WIndows 11 and having the same issue
Since the issue persists for me I’ll submit a service ticket with your ideas. This needs to be fixed yesterday. I made do (temporararily) with a 2015 macbook that I upgraded to Monterey, but performance was atrocious. The Info.plist edits did nothing to resolve it.
…that is, resolve it on the main computer in question (which performs well in the game).
Same problem on my side with my 2014 MacOS Catalina version 10.15.7 - I reinstalled and desinstal fully D3 many times since the latest Blizzard’s update , from there always push the blue button "play " to try to connect and play, I still can t acces in D3 : ( I paid for the game and very Fidel D3 player since the beginning and I am afraid I will now never be able to play again to my favorite game. It is super depressing
Actually you’re the one who came up with the suggestion for the key. I just formatted the fix poorly
No, you found the key in the file. I wasn’t the one that ran the terminal to find the file (because I can’t launch D3 in macOS as I have no compatible GPU there). That credit goes directly to you.
Yep—same oddness here. Im on a full maxed out M2 Ultra Mac Studio running MacOS Sequoia 15.3. I can start the game and play anywhere from 2—15 minutes but then the game crashes and goes back to the Battle.net start up screen. Looks my CPU usage is off the charts when im playing. Hope they figure this out soon.
For windows users you can download required files. Just google vcruntime140.dll and go into Microsoft community website (should be top of search) And download both versions Worked for me
Same problems here, MacOS Catalina version and hit play button and it runs and then stops in five seconds. Two very frustrated LONG TIME PLAYERS here! Please can somebody just set up a PATCH and fix this problem. It’s been a fun game for us and we wish to continue playing please!!!
I also sometimes have (system) load issues, although not leading to crashes, just terrible FPS. When this happens and Activity Monitor shows the majority of the graph as red, as it does for me, it means your CPU/ GPU is overheating. In my case this was due to it being winter and the heating being too high. Fix for me is to open up a window
If you dont have another rig for gaming, then just install windows on your mac, yes sierra is VERY outdated.
I am using sierra but only because my olde audio mixer does not have firewire drivers for newer than sierra macOS, which is total bs.
Typical apple move tho.
Cant even remember the last time i tried playing games on my mac. Ts been years.
Im playing games on another rig w windows ofc. This way is better
