I get the hype but that’s really just preying on those that WANTED X class from the beginning.
I think most would want to have investment on the class they prefer from the get go. Then the HYPE for an xpac would come from the further progression of your main.
You couldn’t just type CRU-sader, like 3 more letter lol
Was wondering wtf you were talking about with a Sader since the beginning letter was capped Was like; never heard of that class…
Diablo 1 not having classes is a terrible argument. The devs/creators were still figuring things out and experimenting with class variation.
Don’t underestimate theme and aesthetics.
In comparison to D4, classes from each other game below.
D1 classes:
-Warrior = kinda in D4 as Barbarian
-Rogue = D4
-Sorcerer = D4
-Monk = D3, missing in D4
-Barbarian = D4
-Bard = missing in all other games
D2 classes:
-Barbarian. = D4 Barbarian
-Paladin. = TBA in a future xpac likely (ffs)
-Sorceress. = D4 sorcerer
-Necromancer. = D4 Necromancer
-Druid. = D4 druid
-Assassin. = D4 rogue
-Amazon. = missing in all other D games
D3 classes:
-Barbarian = D4
-Crusader = TBA in a future xpac likely (ffs)
-Demon Hunter = missing in D4
-Monk = missing in D4
-Necromancer = D4
-Witch Doctor = missing in D4
-Wizard = D4
I’m sure Blizz has the numbers. There might be a reason why they have chosen not to add certain classes in post entries. Possibly not enough players to warrant incorporation.
In all we are missing at release in D4:
-Warrior (this was probably rolled into Barbarian, don’t know didn’t play D1)
-Monk
-Bard
-Amazon
-Paladin/Crusader
-Demon Hunter
The real problem will be whether player empowerment exists or if the best way to play has already been decided and “effective” play requires copying the developer. Class is somewhat irrelevant except for the shiny visuals - the end result is the same, regardless.
Chill out man. You always throw a hissy fit when things don’t go your way, or you’re not the next in line and have to wait? You’ll get your knight in shining armor, in the next expac or DLC or what ever. It’s probably a decision because of the story. Take it or leave it.
If we wouldn’t got the Necro or Druid at first, i would not complain, instead play the out of the available classes and have fun, like i would anyway. You can’t have fun without your favourite class or what?
So you are suggesting either they (a) include 14 classes at launch (with itemization, skills, class mechanics, item art, voice acting, for each) or (b) pick some smaller number of classes to release and then never add another class to the game so as to satisfy your demand that, “All classes should be in place for the initial release.”
Do either of those really strike you as reasonable?
Being okay and realizing you can’t do anything about it is two different things. Clearly it’s monetary wise to keep a popular class for an expansion to garner some hype and ensure sales.
Unless the gaming community as a whole would vote with their wallet things will never change, and you can’t even get the community to agree on non issues, so that’s never happening.
Let’s make this simple since people are way over thinking this…
In the future do you want all classes to be available at release or not?
(It’s a yes or no question, no need for conjecture, explanation, or discussion.)
“Welcome to the Diablo III Community Forums. These forums are here to provide you a friendly environment where you can discuss everything Diablo III with your fellow players.”
I came in posing a serious question. The obvious answer is YES, all classes should included at the release of a game. It’s sickening there are people that would not want this.
Figured the Blizz forums would be a waste of time…
I see you failed to understand my very first point in this thread. What I want and you want is utterly irrelevant, as long as it’s a monetary gain to hold back classes for expansions, that’s the reality, and there’s exactly zero chances of getting enough people to refuse to buy the game to force the issue.
Sorry you didn’t get a resounding “YES”, but truth be told, I don’t see a reason to include every class from previous games of the franchise into the sequel. Especially if it results in the classes having little customization in terms of character building, and/or it doesn’t make much sense from a lore pov.
Also, I’d much prefer new classes than too many returnee classes.
