The cool thing too about the original was that she still had armor options that ended up covered to the teeth in plate looking armor and still looked badass. This is just sad lol.
Just like the rogue in D1.
hahahaha I dont know whether to laugh or cry. This is a FANTASY GAME! Barbarian should atleast look some what menacing. He looks like heâs well nourished, maybe too nourished lol
Yeah man, idk how you can argue the barb is malnourished. Like someone else said, he spent too much time around the fire eating sanctuary twinkies and metabolizing all his muscle mass when all those ran out (because he was too lazy to get more, not because Sanctuary ran out)
Barb, Druid, Amazon, Sin.
They need work.
The barb needs beefy arms, a huge chest and shoulders. He looks like he never lifted a thunder maul before.
im dead hahahahaha. Barb looks WAY off now that i look at the reddit page Vile posted. He lost literally 50-60lbs of lean mass.
All the classes look really toned down. the paladin and sorceress doesnât look TOO bad, although toned down.
They went from a ferrari to a subaruâŚ
wow I didnât realize how terrible the assassin was. Jeez. Her face is awful. Her chest is awful, she looks wider than she did before, but that could just be the shoulder guards making that impression.
the barbarian has puny shoulders and is shorter than he used to be (compare his height to the paladin). He needs more muscle definition in his abs and chest.
The druid needs a younger face, but otherwise good, imo.
Necro face is awful. I hope his hair is as white and long as it used to be.
Paladin and Sorc are good, imo.
lmao awesome.
The paladin, IMO, actually looks bulkier and more imposing than in in D2. I like his new model a lot (he still runs like an idiot though). I think he looks smaller because his armor is darker in D2R, so it doesnât stand out/seem to occupy as much space.
The sorc I am pleased with. I think her face is pretty good/beautiful, and I like her armor styles. The flowing skirt looks great and thematic in game. Yeah, they took away her underboob and I hate that they did that the same way they reduced the amazon â but besides that she is well done. The amazon⌠is bad for a lot of reasons, not just the sociopolitical ones.
the assassin does look really terrible. Doesnât fit the agile, shadowy, quick moving killer. Kinda looks like a mom.
Barbarian 100% looks like a retired body builder whoâs no longer on Testosterones.
Druid just looks like heâs homeless, should give him an empty tin can to complete the transmog.
Necro looks like heâs dying. I guess it sort of fits the theme but he looks like heâs battling cancerâŚ
Paladin and sorc i agree, are the 2 stand outs.
I dont like the paladins afro. I think they could have given him a closer haircut. I thought he had more of a crew cut than a fro. (nit picking)
The sorc is fine, I can go without the underboob, whatever, she will have armor on anyways, however some of the armor didnt really change the outfit, and just the color scheme. I digress.
Sin just looks awful, added clothing where it didnât âneedâ it. Again she will have armor on.
Her face, ugh. Way to prominent if you ask me in the (forgive me if I am insulting anyone on this) Asian culture. I always felt she was more Russian, like Black widow or something. I guess the martial arts theme just had to be Asian.
Whatever, Iâll still play them all, I just wish they looked better. #ranting
This is the sociopolitical change to the Paladin to give him more of an African aesthetic. (all of the actual changes to look are ones made for diversity/gender equality reasons). Its not enough that he is black, but he needs to have a traditionally black hair cut (even though crew cuts are also, just not as iconic).
The rest of the paladin model is great, and if the paladin shipped like this and I was experiencing them for the first time, I wouldnât bat an eye. It is the intent and politics behind the changes that turn me off of them. If we carry on with the idea of trying to rationalize hair, armor, etc choices based on the standard of living and activity level of the heroes, the short hair made more sense for a Paladin that is part of a Ordered, Martial, Military and Religious organization.
I knew this kind of stuff was coming when they hailed D2 on the 25th anniversary of Diablo for featuring a âdiverse roster of charactersâ, as if the race of the heroes actually mattered. I have played them all, and I donât need to physically âidentify withâ any of them. I know I am not a DD amazonian warrior or an african holy crusader⌠its okay. I donât need to connect on any level other than gameplay mechanics/aesthetic of armor and abilities.
im korean and i agree. Assassin i thought was more russian because she was not asian in the original series.
Blizz probably did this to please the âinclusiveâ crowd. I used to play wow and there were hordes of people demanding ârepresentationâ of themselves in the video game. Like âpride day eventsâ âtrans heroesâ âfit x hereâ that represents themselves.
I could careless if there were koreans or asians in a game, as a matter of fact it never even dawned upon me there were no asians in D2 at all. Iâve never even noticed it because thatâs how little i cared.
All I care about is does it fit the theme and is it an actually a good game.
This is one aspect Iâve never understood, why someone needs to be represented in a digital video game will always baffle me.
I think AB made them all older on purpose.
The game is 20 years old so they made the characters older to represend this. Itâs the kind of a joke Blizzard was once renowned for.
For me as an old fart they are ok, mostly.
I told above what i think about the amazon, i like her as she is.
When i first looked at the assassin i wondered what that should be. Partly western, partly asian, partly idk. Well i never play assassins so i donât care about her, but i donât like her look.
Overall the nercro looks great, but a bit too ⌠starving? Whiny? Donât know what is with the expression on his face but i donât like it.
The barbarian is exactly how i like it, not too extreme muscular, more âi have no gym around the corner and protein food every dayâ look.
Paladin was always dark toned, now he is totally negro, which is okay for me.
I never play sorceress, so im not very interested in her look. Sheâs ok i think.
The druid looks good, there is nothing i have to criticize.
I can live with the character looks at the moment. But itâs okay when they make them younger again. The only thing that would really bother me would be, when they make the amazon a nice beauty or the necro some kind of star wars Kylo Ren type of dark, which just looks ridiculous.
Insecurities. To be blunt. The need to be represented is a direct result of ego. If you canât be represented then you donât âmatterâ and companies want to appeal to every demographic with money.
Some will argue its to raise âawarenessâ but these companies will put the colors up or change their status to whatever is trendy for the duration. Then as soon as that month or week is over, they swap right back to business as usual.
This.
I donât know where this new censorship came from. There was a lot of push in the 90âs and early 2000âs to fight censorship in music and media. ( Dee Snider vs Tipper Gore 1984)
To censor and dull down the things that made Diablo II taboo and fun is a shame.
Censorship is regression.
The fact that the new barb looks like a lame version of the original is whatâs off.
I would have thought you said Mortal Kombat, but I bet your reference is more akin to what is the subject matter here.
Irregardless, there has been a high influx of censorship going around. Not a lot of people doing what they want, and more what is safe.
Well, yes and no. For example people have been using morph programs such as Imorph in wow for 10years+ without getting banned or warned about it (though I think there was some very recent news about some people getting banned, but It was unsure If it was due to morph or no)
Because Cheetah wants to create a parallel between us asking if they could honor the source material and the folks being mean to the Korean archer, so as to cast us in the same light and shame us into giving up the discussion.
I donât think that was her intention. Like she said in one of her postâs, she informs people of various topics associated with Blizzard, thatâs it. I donât think Cheetah, is trying to influence people to stop a discussion or what have you. I think others were more culprits to that. Cheetah was willing to discuss the topic and thatâs far more what others would normally do.
You know before blizzard decided to butcher the models sex sexism never came up when thinking or talking about D2. Now its cringe what they have done. Look at poor charsi. Soft bubbly voice works awkwardly as all get out with Ms/mr steroid and total scowl on that face.
I hate the paladins sloppy hunched over posture when running, look at the original, he is an upright crusader charging forward. In remastered he is hunched over and also now has exaggerated facial features? The new Paladin looks like a racist caricature compared to the original and itâs shameful. Honestly itâs like they fused the original with a Stormfront cartoon and it is seriously not ok.
And another thing, stop trying to sanitize a game about killing demons, this is why I will NEVER buy Diablo 3. Amazon and barbarian are bad offenders, but new paladin is downright problematic.
