Can someone explain something

I check leader boards to see what skills people run, and i must be missing something ?

hungering arrow pierces? , and the crossbow has 35% freeze and rimeheart can do 10,000 to frozen

why “pierce” weapons or in cube instead of RIMEHEART ?

thanks OG

Because the GoD set is only boosting your primary skill (Hungering Arrow). So more pierces will mean more “big” damage hits instead of minor damage from Rimeheart. Also the procs from Rimeheart aren’t that great.

(Edit: see Iria’s post below for a better explanation about more pierces).

I understand while strafing, its firing hungering arrow, trying to understand , what your saying is a pierce does more damage than the rimeheart’s 10,000 frozen bouns when activated ?

If Rimeheart was a “bonus” to your damage it could be a different thing. But it’s “just” a bit of extra damage compared to the big damage dealer that the set gives. You also have to look at the damage increase from Depth Diggers and Simplicity’s Strength that doesn’t apply to Rimeheart damage.

There is a common misconception with Valla’s Bequest. That weapon doesn’t actually affect the Hungering Arrow pierces at all. In short, what it does is allow slightly more Hungering Arrows to be fired while strafing by bridging the gap between strafe hits to hit more times (to get closer to the 9-frame internal cooldown of the GoD 4-piece bonus).

This season, the Buriza’s weapon speed allows for strafe hits to naturally fire every 9 frames with no extra equipment. But since strafe targets enemies at varied distances, the time-of-flight of the strafe arrows are varied. Thus it is not guaranteed with a 9-frame attack rate that the hits will land exactly every 9 frames (to optimize for the GoD 4-piece bonus). The Valla’s Bequest helps situation by hitting more targets per strafe arrow at staggered times since monsters are hit by a single strafe arrow at varied distances. Additionally, the Valla’s Bequest effect will allow more targets to be frozen such that the ethereal Buriza’s effect can grant 100% critical hit chance on those targets behind the initial target.

Lastly, the Rimeheart effect is a simple 10000% damage effect that does not use your set multipliers for calculating damage. The damage of your Hungering Arrow hits are many digits more than the Rimeheart effect damage.
