I started with 0 Act II bounty mats. I finished Act II bounties on T13 and claimed the cache from Tyrael. I used a Bovine Bardiche in the cube to open a portal to Not The Cow Level to attempt an Avarice run, intentionally leaving everything on the ground to maintain gold streak. During the run, I opened the Cache to maintain my gold bonus and successfully obtained Avarice. After clearing the map, I began picking up all the items I dropped, filling my inventory twice and TPing to clear inventory. I then found the location of my open cache, with an assortment of cache items, including an unidentified Gloves of Worship and the Act II shield, but no Butterflies. I still have 0 Act II mats.
Items start disappearing after a while if you don’t pick them up.
I don’t understand how this bit of trivia is in any way relevant. If the entire cache had disappeared, or if there hadn’t been any items beyond the cache, it might be relevant, but neither of those situations occurred.
Well, it is relevant, in the sense of what I just wrote. In any case, this isn’t a bug. If you need more info, you should try searching.
In the OP, Walls stated that they picked up the Bounty Cache, opened it and got everything they expected… except the Bounty Mats.
If they had left the items on the ground too long, the entire Large Horadric Chest (Bounty Cache) would have disappeared. Not just one item from the Chest.
Another player reported a similar issue. I believe they weren’t receiving the Bounty Mats from Act IV Bounties.
Thanks for acknowledging the problem I’m having. This must be a bug. It’s impossible for me to get any angel flesh, though I’ve run 100s of Act IV bounties to completion - ensuring all 5 are complete to the the Large Horadric Cache, but finding no angle flesh. If there’s any fix, I’d love to know. I’ve tried repairing my installation and also uninstalling and installing again, even switching characters, but it’s a bust.
If you read through the other thread, Cherokeenigh never said whether they found a solution or if the issue cleared up.
Just curious: Can you craft an item that requires Act IV Bounty Mats? If so, then it may just be a display issue. If not, that would be a serious issue.
He stated that he went back to the area where he opened the cache. In other words, he waited until he got the conquest before going back to pick up items. In that time, items could have started to disappear. The rate at which the game deletes items seems to depend on how many items drop and how far away you go. It may also depend on system memory, since the game has to keep track of all items dropped, as well as all monsters spawned, etc. The more game elements it has to track, the faster the items seem to disappear. At least that has been my experience.
No, items tend to vanish depending on type. The first to go is gold, followed by white items. I don’t know if crafting mats are kept longer than that, but they don’t remain forever. It’s not surprising that the legendary items remained, since those are the last to disappear.
Bottom line, if you want an item, pick it up, since it may vanish later on.
Timberwolf, this has been my experience as well. 100%.
If you ever want to test this Persuoe, go into whimsyshire with another player, and sit at the door while they clear it. After they have cleared the map, go out to collect your loot. All of the regular drops will be in the first room like normal, but nothing will be in the rest of the map other than legendary drops since it all got deleted. You might find a few random yellows, DBs and gems in a few spots, but 95% of the non-legendary loot will be missing.
Another easy way to test this is to collect a bunch of white items in a game with another player and drop them in town. Then run a rift together, and all the items will be gone when you return to town.
Or you can drop some white items in town and run a Cow level with Boon of the hoarder. I never drop stuff in town if I am not in a party, but I think the same should apply if you are alone.
You are correct. My apologies.
I don’t need to.
I misread the OP. As TimberWolf pointed out, Walls had already opened the Bounty Chest. For some reason I was thinking they dropped the Chest without opening it first.
None of that will help. As TimberWolf explained, items left on the ground too long will eventually disappear. It was the same in D2 as well.
This is not a bug.
