That won’t work, because you can’t sell 50 million gold worth of gear at once. I think you’re misunderstanding the quest. It’s not a matter of slowly accumulating gold; you have to keep collecting it all in one fast session. That gold counter only lasts maybe 5-6 seconds before disappearing, so you need to be picking up more and more of it, continually, until you hit 50 million. The only way to do it is with really large and monster-filled zones (or as one noted, with a very large pile of bounty caches).
