Does anyone know what the odds are of getting one angelic effect vs another? I have pulled 5 horrify’s in a row on a sacred harvester. The odds of that have to be close to zero. For the math wiz, what are the actual odds of that happening? Does the haunt effect have a lower chance of rolling?
The very first time I used them, it took me 8 before I got the one I needed.
Just try it on another item until you get the one you like. Don’t waste the crucible on the same items. Odds? Well… Sanctified powers have 3 possibility and all considered at equal weights; (1/3)^5 = 0.00411522633 which is roughly 0.4% chance of landing 5 same sanctified power in a row.
That’s just an estimation by the way, there’s no written rules saying that they all shall have equal weights on appliance, thus 1/3 chance. You need a huge sample size to know that. I reckon, due some of them creating such performance issues (any sanctified power that cause projectiles to split or entities to stall), some might even have higher rarities for this exact reason.
Once you find a reliable weapon try crucibles on a few helmets and amulets first, then get onto weapons to ensure you have a reliable piece even if you mess it up. Keep gambling and hitting the Greater Rifts. I have landed mine after several tries as well.
You evil. ![]()
I read it like he meant “on another duplicate item” … Like if you feel you have bad luck on one item, you try on another item of the same kind. I spent a lot of crucibles on the Holy Point Shot quiver for Impale. It didn’t seem to make much difference whether I sanctified the same item again or switched between duplicates - but it doesn’t harm to be a bit superstitious (knock on wood).
The patch notes indicate that the results are random - but ya never know!
It took me about 10/15 attempts to get the right rolls per weapon. It looks like I’m lucky, and I’ll cry next season ![]()
One in three.
I’ve only not gotten the power I desired twice, always getting it on the third roll.
Admittedly, I’ve only Sanctified three items. It does seem the better option is to apply to a weapon, but in my case, I did not need to do so and have primarily used bracers and once a belt.
This season my fastest “perfect” sanctified item was 8 rolls, worst is still in progress but I reckon I’m up to about 250 rolls so far.
I kid you not, it took me 45 to get the impale one on my quiver, I’m not talking gg stats either, just the sanctified power. Crazy. It only took 1 try for the ww on my bk weapon. Rngzus!
For the math wiz, what are the actual odds of that happening?
So, there are three possible crucible powers and you want one of them.
- Chance that the power you obtain is the one you want = (1/3)
- Chance that the power you obtain is not the one you want = (2/3)
- Chance that in X attempts, you do not obtain the power you want = (2/3)^X
- Chance that in 5 attempts, you do not obtain the power you want = (2/3)^5 = (32/243) = 0.13168
So, roughly 13 people in 100 would get this result.

Does it really matter they rain from the sky. I have had up to 70 to 80 in my stash. Once you get what you want what do you do with the rest?

Apply them to puzzle rings to turn them into the equivalent of primal ancient puzzle rings, then use them in the Cube to run ancient vaults with them.

Getting a specific effect is a cakewalk, getting a specific effect with all rolls what you want, that’s another beast altogether.

He even seems to forget what he wrote elsewhere:
Plus tell your friend to use them all up before the end of the season. When you upgrade a item then you salvage it. Most of the time you get Key Stones, Death breath, & Soul Shard from them.

You know it was just a statement. The point I was making they rain form the sky so what is the big deal on the Odds what you trying to get.
Plus Like the other guy that throws his crap up all the time. Like I’m stupid and don’t know how things work. I really don’t care what you two have to say.
Plus there is a lot people out there only think you can only use them on a weapons or off hand. So if the two of you really play the game and not living your life here on the forums you would that.
Plus if the two of you reply I’m not wasting my time to read it Have a nice Day!!!

Heh, who got your panties in a twist?

I never had a problem so on what rolls I needed. There was one time I had one that took like 6 to 8 tries.

Not talking about you, sorry if it sounded that way.

I’m up to well over 200 on a neck and not done, “worst” luck on an item I’m currently happy with is like 27.

Especially those damn off-hands.
Spent around 70-80 trying to get the right Holy Point Shot so far. And my first one took like 5.
