I certainly cant agree with that.
They are however bad content design for sure.
Plenty of stuff from the current D3 achievements and conquests, would have been more interesting replacements in the altar progression.

You either nerf the start of the leveling process by not using the first CR, or you wait the extra week
It really depends on when you start the Season.
If you plan on starting the Season as soon as it goes Live on Friday and you wait to run that week’s Challenge Rift, the next Challenge Rift begins the following Monday. So, you only have to wait 3 days.
The double massacre bonus is a MASSIVE penalty for console players. They are required to pick up NG globes, which only drop when you acquire a massacre, and unlike the PC, double their damage so they do the same damage output as PC players. Otherwise, they do half the damage. Well, technically, on the console, every monster has twice the health as the PC version, but on a ratio of damage to a monster, they are required to pick up NG globes to do the same damage output as PC players. This includes Greater Rifts as well.
Basically, every tier on the console is 5 tiers higher than the PC version.
You want to keep the double bonus to XP? Fine. But either they need to remove the double duration, or remove the NG game from the console. The first is a quick fix, and will penalize PC players for what, maybe 5 minutes in their leveling process before they never think about it again for the entire season? The latter of removing the NG mechanics from the console is more complicated.
It does seem, to me anyway, that some of the requirements are out of order like requiring a level 125 Whisper before an augmented weapon when, clearly, if you’ve got the former you don’t really need the latter. Or you used the first on the 2nd.

Not necessarily. They could enable it by default, and just make all console characters gain the effect of Nephalem Glory outright.
CR cache is fine but needs to be closer to the end of the list, like 24+. The 250 forgotten souls could move down too - that’s a hefty grind.
Almost everything else up to that would likely be doable on Friday night for some players, certainly the weekend for those who can invest some time.
Another way to fix this would be if the sacrifices could be done in any order.
I’ll probably use an alt account to burn the CR cache and take the ACFB path on a Necro to hit 70 in an hour, then PL my main account to 70 on an ABCF path and start the season that way.
Regarding seals, +200 damage is lame, and actually problematic for those who want to play with friends at lower levels (unless we can toggle it off?) +20% resists, or +20% pickup radius would be better.
Nephlem glory duration time should be doubled too on A seal then. So both worlds can be happy, not nerfing one for the other. Make a post on PTR forum with a clear title too.
Well, you can’t post on the PTR forums at the moment, and that still doesn’t resolve the problem. Once you get 300 kills, you’ll no longer get any new globes. Even if they double the time of the globes, that’s still only 6 minutes maximum, but you’ll still have to wait a minute to drop the bonus.

It’s more complicated than that, because Nephalem Glory globes cause other issues. Certain skills such as Necro Simulcrums, Witch Doctor Spirit Barrage, and Monk’s Rabid Strike Mystic Allies don’t benefit from the globes.
Certain builds which work well on the PC just don’t work at all on the console due to how Nephalem Glory was implemented.
And, let’s not forget Massacre Bonuses being worthless for leveling on the console.

The XP isn’t multiplied by the difficulty. As demonstrated in the above video, the console version gets a higher massacre bonus, and a higher multiplier, but only gains 1 level, whereas the PC version gains 5 levels.
Console: 125 kills, 3x multiplier - Levels from 9 to 10
PC: 81 kills, 2.5x multiplier - Levels from 9 to 14

Agreed. You only need a level 30 gem to augment a weapon. To me, that makes the #24 sacrifice of a Whisper of Atonement Rank 125 more expensive than the #25 sacrifice of “Any Augmented Weapon”. I can’t imagine why anyone would sacrifice a weapon augmented with a 125 Whisper.
Well, the cost of “Any augmented weapon” is not that low as you might think, since it requires an ancient weapon in the first place.
Why not add some special item in the CR cache that will be used instead? Would make more sense, and everyone is happy.
CR chace is the least big deal. And i like that the choice matters(a little bit).
Also Raxx made a good video on the most profitable progress in the altar for casuals.
Does it need tweaking and adjustments? Yes. But otherwise the idea is great. I’d like to see something like this in D4.
Afaik D4 got something slightly related to this, with the Renown system. BUT, yeah, would like to see something going much further than that, with a bunch of challenges/conquests and character rewards tied to completing them. Like a season journey 2.0 (just without it being a season thing), and per character rather than per account (or a mix; some challenges might be account-shared, while most are character-based)
The 243 Gems is always the bottleneck for me. Now I have a place to burn that whisper that didn’t quite hit 125.

You’re going to be running lots of bounties and lots of GRs. Nothing too interesting, there.
But a couple items really pop out, and in my opinion, should not be included: challenge rift cache and Staff of Herding.
I find it interesting that you say most aren’t interesting because it is stuff we do anyways then also complain about 2 of the three that isn’t.
Also you don’t need the staff until the final two nodes. Most people don’t need the resource on crit at all but even if you do, there are definitely two nodes we can leave out without it being a big deal. Would it be that bad to not have auto DB’s and orb pickup for example? And many people don’t really run many bounties or use that many DB’s so they can leave out the double DB node.
I mean lets be real here, the staff is pretty much for the wings. And do you really expect them to just give a nice set of wings like those without requiring anything more than regular season play?

The challenge rift cache though really makes no sense. There’s no way to grind it out or hunt down the right demons or whatever the season theme is supposed to be about. It’s just a silly time gated external thing.
Have you looked at what you can unlock by the time you need the cache? You are playing from Friday night and get one on Monday night. Its three days man. Before the 15th upgrade you can get every damage based node, and the first three for levelling/XP and have to spare for resource on crit or a defense one. Then after all the time you had to spend to get to there which also takes up a chunk of the weekend you take that time to farm the rest of the stuff for the following nodes and on Monday night get possibly more than one at once.
You have to wait 3 days (not including all the farming time to get to that node anyway) to start getting the QoL nodes. That is really a silly thing to complain about.

I rly dont see the issue with having to do challenge rift.
Yeah me too. I understand if people just don’t like them but why do they act like it is this big deal. Even if they don’t like figuring stuff out on their own. Do they not know youtube exists? Go on there, watch a guide and it will very rarely take more than 2 or 3 tries even with a class and set you have no idea about. The whole process will take like 15 minutes. You don’t need to learn the class, they show you the optimum path to take and what to avoid and if you can’t do “Press this skill once when you open the rift then this then o here is the only damaging skill so spam it” then surely you have bigger problems in the game.
I’ve just got to my handing in of the Challenging Rift Cache and had the item in my bag and went to the Altar of Sacrifice which came up 1/1 to unlock the seal I wanted but the Sacrifice button was greyed out. I left clicked on the Bounty nothing the sacrifice was still greyed out and nor did I get a icon like an anvil I did for sacrificing something beforehand. The only other I could see was right click on the cache which I did and as I feared the loot was opened up and now the alter showed 0/1. So have to wait for a reset but still don’t know how to unlock the seal with the cache.
Oh btw still only getting the same amount of progres orb drops even though I unlocked the seal for it.
From what I have heard the problem is more that you don’t notice the extra orb as easily because it spawns right on top of you.
