My Altar of Rites is asking me for a Common version of the Ring of Royal Grandeur to advance down the tree. I have the traditional Legendary one on me, but it will not accept it to unlock the next rank.
Verify how you got the ring. If it came from the “Followers Items” box, it will NOT work. Rings from both Act 1 bounty cache and Jewelery pack work.

That was it. Different item ID’s probably.
When attempting to get the extra orb, I experienced the same issue. I own a total of 4 RoRGs. When I only keep 1 RoRG in my inventory, the Altar of Rights reflects “0”; however, it recognized “1” RoRG in my inventory when I actually had 2. Also, it recognized “2”, when I had 3 rings in my inventory.
Note: It would not let me sacrifice one of the rings, so I had to sacrifice one of the others.
As noted in at least a dozen threads now…
- A RORG obtained from the Follower Items cache cannot be sacrificed
- A RORG obtained from the Jewellery cache, or Act I Bounty cache, can be sacrificed

I saw the same thing then I reread the requirement. It wants an ancient version. I used the cube to upgrade it and everything worked fine.
