Alienating Players

Oh my lord… so much wrong with this post, where to begin? Did you even watch BlizzCon?!

  1. D4 is not a MMORPG at all, the developers were very clear on this. It is still very much so, an Isometric ARPG.

  2. Most games are Always-Online DRM now a days, this is not a bad thing at all. I don’t know where you came across the idea of “raiding” being end game? The dungeons are the main part of the end game of D4, along with a few other things they have not shared with us yet.

  3. Ashava, the world boss they demonstrated, is only 1 event and there is nothing wrong with this idea at all. In fact, it was very refreshing to play it first hand

  4. D3 has account bound loot…D4 will have 3 different types of items. Items that can be traded freely. Items that can only be traded once, becoming account bound to the recipient. And items that can not be traded at all. I call this a major win over D3.

  5. D3 has timed combat mechanics, always has…I don’t see the problem with pushing players to try a little harder at times.

  6. D4 is going to have expansions yes…this is good. For years now, players have complained about a lack of content. They reveal hope, and you still complain? They said there are no plans to sell power, this includes expansions. Just like the Necro in D3, which doesn’t make anyone who has it, stronger than anyone that doesn’t.

  7. Developers were pretty clear in their interviews that they want to focus players on slaying monsters, not sitting in town all day and crafting.

In conclusion, you have a very large opinion about a game that was revealed with a very basic demo, ridiculously new in development, and probably didn’t even get to try it yourself.

No one should be opinionated regarding anything they saw online until they try it themselves. Even then… the game is so new in development that I’ll bet 90% of what you saw this past weekend, will be changed long before the release date is set.
