The Altar quests were fun. The extra damage and damage mitigation makes the Altar way too OP on top of another season theme.
However, I would be more than happy if all the bonus damage was replaced with other quality of life things so it could be a permanent part of seasons
- holiday gift bonus in effect
- increase pickup radius by 20y
- double rift key drop
- double petrified scream drop
- reduce cdr by 10%
- reduce rcr by 10%
I would happily complete the Altar every season just for the double bounties, pet pickup and double primals.

Or they can just save themselves some time and eliminate bounties because that seems to be the real goal with most of these keep around “solutions”.

yes! pet pickup and auto salvage is SUPER good for a lazy player like myself. I hate clicking on stuff, its a real dream having a pet that does it! hah

Yeah with autosalvage T16 is playable again and a bit of fun. It feels so nice and a bit like GR. Clicking on Legendary every 10 secs is already enough of clicks

There is no doubt that the Altar will stay. All the work put into it after Raxxanterax’s suggestions document are meant to be permanent.

auto pick up death breaths and salvage blue and yellow seems nice to have. Should keep that.

They should keep it more or less like it is when season ends and then make the state of the altar you have earned and unlocked available in new seasons once you’ve completed counqueror or guardian.
yeah id rather unlock the ability to have my pet do extra stuff than to get “wings” or a portrait (recycled) at the later challenges of a season

It does work nice that you can effectively play the game normally picking up the yellows on your first play through, then as you progress past them they become auto-pickup.
Running T16 has become such a more clean experience, which is great for a game with a lot of repetition.

I disagree a bit. I think they could remove the potion buffs and keep the rest of the altar. Replace the potion seals with something else.
Run speed is one thing I am going to really miss. Once we get used to running this fast, going back to normal is going to suck so bad. I would be happy with the pet pickups and run speed, but that extra progression orb really helps too.
Totally agree with making Alter QoL permanent.
Veiled material (raw mats) should also be added in the auto pickup function. Legendaries should be the only pickup required if chosen to run with auto pickup.

Yeah definitely. I went for that one real fast because it makes quite a difference when you are still in baby fresh 70 phase of your build. It is great for all of the not so fast but still good builds.

The biggest QoL the Altar gives is the auto-loot/salvage. But, they just missed the slam dunk still. It should auto-loot EVERYTHING. Endlessly clicking on the ground does not add any excitement or challenging gameplay.
The Altar challenges are also too easy. I started the season a couple days ago and I’m already done with the Altar and have Guardian completed.
They could have added more steps, more challenge, etc. For example, farming for the Staff of Herding is just lame. What skill is involved in leaving/joining new games repeatedly until the quest/item spawns? All it does is exactly what they were trying to avoid: creating unnecessary server load. Not very well thought out.
To add, they really should have kept and refined the Angelic Crucibles. The build diversity those allowed really opened up D3 in new, exciting ways. Now, we have returned to the same ole’ meta with extreme power creep through the Altar.
The other thing I would change would be to put the RNG items after the step 15.
Ramaladnis gift and Petrified screams should come after the Challenge rift cache.
Any Augmented Weapon should be in the first 15.
The first 15 should be things you can grind out without RNG.
