A Barb Response to the Lamentation Nerf

I’m telling you guys, the new barb set will be full zDPS (6 piece bonus - 40 yards pick-up radius)

Nah i think Blackthorne’s Battlegear will finally get the Barbarian stamp it deserves.

On the bright side, It seems as if monk whirlwinds better than barb so there is that… The WKL buff to pull mobs towards you is pretty nutty with the set bonuses lol.

New Monk Set

Remember the people that told us it was all about “balance”?

Yeah, well…

That’s with the new Crusader set. At least a third of his gear isn’t even ancient (so without Caldesann’s Despair augments), his amulet is augmented with DEX and on the very first day of the patch, after the completely untested, revised Crusader set, he does a GR145 solo.

That’s not him doing a GR140 and saying it’s GR145 capable like on Barb. This is him actually doing a GR145 on day 1 of the era, with completely non-optimised gear, using the new Crsuader set. You know, the set that since it was tested on PTR got a much higher damage multiplier on the 6-piece, a brand new skill added to the set, and the associated flail went from 300% damage to 1000%.

But Barb doing GR140 was OP, right?

I despair, truly, I do.

He has already done the 145. He’s working on 150. He did 150 in less than 16 and a half minutes. The nerf hammer is coming so…

Was so excited to play whirlrend barb in S19 now I’m not going to touch barb. Garbage nerf, blizzard hates barbs having fun

That’s actually not a problem at all.

Heaven’s Fury is too strong with the Set. 6-piece bonus is over 2x stronger than LoD. The 2-piece bonus adds an 8x multiplier it looks like. So you got over 16x the power, plus Captain Crimson adding in what it adds. I don’t think anyone ever really pushed LoD: HF with a FoT either, so FoT is still proving to be an issue.

I was pointing out that for the new Crusader set multiple sources of damage multipliers got increased from the PTR build to the live build, all without any testing what-so-ever. Compare that to the red text in the patch notes for Barbs, which completely removes a damage multiplier compared to PTR.

Ahh gotcha.

Ya.

No consistency to say the least.

What happens if it doesn’t get nerfed though? Like just what if this goes into season 19? I’m honestly curious what you think about that if it happens?

We know exactly how he feels. Troll is glad that everything that got nerfed did.
I hope they don’t nerf it and it clears 150 before tomorrow. It would be hilarious! Especially in the face of Blizz claiming they are nerfing like 5 other builds in the name of ‘balance’ (which we all know is bs). Just shows the trolls know how to run this game better than the devs do.

Eat this, Chant haters. Tastes delicious? The same taste, as creating a topic named, “HAHAHA, GOODBYE CHANT WIZ”, right a few hours after “nerf PTR” was started. I certainly hope so. Eat it all, taste it slowly. Don’t forget to lick a bowl.

None.

Also…

UPDATE: REND KINDA SUCKS

For high paragon players, the nerf to Lamentation = about 7 GRs.

For lower Paragon players like me, it’s much worse–closer to 10+ tiers of difference. On PTR with bad maps, I cleared 125 with Rend. Now, on Live, I’m fishing 115s and failing over and over regardless of setup.

This is because Rend no longer deals the proper burst damage needed to supplement or replace WW damage. We’re stuck in a damage limbo where neither skill has the juice it needs to do all the work, but it’s almost impossible to gear for both.

Meanwhile, my clanmates and I struggle to push what we used to speed (145-150).

I think that it would be a bad decision for the developers to let AoV go into S19 in it current iteration. If they decide to let it go for whatever reason, I would expect them to nerf it in patch 2.6.8 unless they have a change in design philosophy.

I was going to say at under Para 1200 it felt closer to -10 GR or more.

Agreed. The build doesn’t feel good at all.

I guess I’m going for seasonal Crusader for the first time ever in S19, instead of Barb for the first time ever in S19.

PS: careful not to mention the Brahmaparusha’s name again, otherwise his feeble minions might mass-flag you again.

Well, I don’t have as much experience at D3 as other folks but I have played each season for the past few years. And I read the forums and watch the great videos on youtube. For the life of my I do not understand why Blizzard would do this. I mainly play POE and they rotate the meta all the time - I for one like that they do it although others dislike abandoning their favorite build. I call it saving the players from themselves because most people are creatures of habit. Anyway, maybe I underestimate why Blizzard is so worried about a slightly OP build in any specific season. Isn’t the goal to have people play and enjoy the game? Are the leaderboards so important that the 99% of the players who are not competing can’t enjoy a classic Diablo build that feels good? I read the beautiful post at the top of this thread - damn that was perhaps the best gaming post I have ever read. Blizzard should really at the minimum meet the gamers half way on the nerf - and I say this as a somewhat objective observer. I played the PTR for the first time because I heard about the WW rework. I was really looking forward to play a lot until the next season of POE. Maybe Blizzard doesn’t get the somewhat casual players like me and what it took to get me on a PTR - really liking the WW build and then getting bummed out with what I consider a nerf for no particular reason. Again, maybe I underestimate D3 and Leaderboards, but I do know a lot about how a gaming company should operate - and this reeks of a disconnect with your paying customers.
