2 skill setup outdated? Console vrs pc

This has to be one of the biggest issues?
At least in My Mind I feel Console is getting the benefit of the doubt Over PC users In the Sense they will have access too Multiple abilities at Once.
I HOPE, if that’s the case Console will NEVER be allowed to Play with PC users On a 2 Skill hotkey setup Vrs 5 is Simply Not balanced in regards to Pvp Combat. How Much more effective will that result in farming for the console users as well.
Diablo 2 Has always been a Pc first game and we’re talking about Modernizing the Game I hope we will be Looking at some Skill bar changes as well for Left click skills ect. maybe a larger action bar with only 1 possible aura @ once from 1 user(besides gear). I know it’s possible and it’d make a classic Much more fluid.
Does anyone else support the ideal of a larger skill bar?
Cross progression is available so I fear cross play will be next and how will that effect me when I’m pc only…
others with the same feeling of change

They already said no cross play.

Secondly, PC players will destroy console players anyways because they have a mouse. one milisecond extra pressing a hotkey won’t make any type of difference, especially for PvP veterans from D2.

Thirdly in D2 there are barely any characters that use more than 1-2 skills, having 6 skills at your disposal isn’t going to do much for most builds.

Yes it is outdated. I created a post already asking for a PC hotbar

Well I would argue that you don’t need instant access to more than a few skills, once you start adding HOTO or any items for charges/buffs, and what not you could definitely use a bunch of keys at your disposal, but you also need to switch between setups in those cases.

Like Flyin said even just competing for clicking on objects would be a hard nerf against console players.

My Sorc uses Blizzard, Ice Blast, Glacial Spike, Teleport, Telekinesis, Static Field, Frozen Armour, Fireball and Meteor. That does not work with a skillbar, limited to 6 skills.

… that does not even include a Battle Orders and Battle Command from a switch weapon. Or a life tap.

Well and that’s the odd thing, I do at times use 7 or more skills, the odd times I wanna role a 2 main ele, third weak ele build I’m juggling them, but it’s not really hard by any stretch… the controller guy is actually limited more than I could be.

Once my fingers know where the keys are it’s like its one key I’m hitting, y’all know what I mean… no real thinking.

Wait you can See the L2 option there, so they will have access to 12 skills if I’m reading that right.

Actually I have no clue how it works, but I’m not really worried about it… you could say it will work by L2 switching between 2 rows of 4 skills you can assign to R1/R2 or they have access to 4+4+2 skills … meh PC is still smooth for me.

Or L2 is switching between main/secondary weapons in which case they only have 6 skill slots, actually way worse off than PC. Still lets HOTO work as it’s your second skill bar but 6+ from one class would be weirder.

Making D2R work on console must make them rip their hair out, kudos to them for going for it

I don’t understand how this is an issue; you could have 12 skills and easily swap between all of them by just pressing the button before clicking.

PC has the advantage.

Also, they said no cross-play anyway.

Unless I misunderstood, console players don’t have access to all the skills at once? I thought the other skills were activated by L1/R1 based on what you clicked? Similar to how we use F keys?

Ya I’m just rambling, if its L2 switches between 4 skills, those 8 skills will need to be assigned to R1/R2 during skill choice screens. Not a big issue, and then hitting any of the 4 will assign them to the R’s. The only weird situation is what if HOTO is on your second weapon set, you need to switch to the weapon set then switch to the right 4 buttons then assign then hit the key… that’s a bit of a mess on a controller I would think.

If it’s the L2 switches between weapons, and that causes 4 different skills to choose, then you only have access to 6 skills really, unless your second is only used for buffing. Or I am missing the key for switching weapons.

I think, the skillbar is a handicap anyway… With skillbar you have 6 skill buttons + 4 buttons for potions. So you need to use your arrow buttons on a controller, don’t you? But then you can’t use at least 2 potions (rather all 4) while properly moving, or even while teleporting.

If I were to play it on consoles, I would prefer the old skill system.

EDIT: But then switching between skills ofc is awkward… Well, I think, the PC controls are very much favourable.

That will be too slow…

There is no competition with PC, so I prefer console to be as accessible as possible.

the console hotkeys are the same as pc they just use dpad to switch skills and triggers to use just like F keys and left and right click

How do you know this ?

I don’t see any information that the triggers and left and right click.

If you look at the image on the blizzard website skills are mapped to ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘X’, ‘Y’, ‘R1’, and ‘R2’ meaning the triggers are definitely not left and right click.

Anyone ever play Hulk, Ultimate Destruction on console? You ended up with about 40 different skills to choose from, if I remember correctly. Switching between many different skills will be easy.

I don’t necessarily need a skill bar (because you’d likely want to use more than 6 skills at a time). What I want though is instant casting of that spell when pressing the hotkey, e.g. pressing E instantly casts Frost Nova (without mouse buttons being involved).

This “Left and right mouse buttons only for using skills” mechanic is incredibly clunky and outdated.

It’s been discussed in some of the q&a videos. I definitely remember it being talked about. ABXY etc will set active but L / R will be the way you use the ability.

As a OG player this I agree with. I think it can be modernize while keeping faith to original game play like just only 1 Aurora used at a time and only 2 skills used at a time. I would like to see left click for movement only . So many times I am trying to move but wind up casting.

Where was it talked about?

I watched these videos multiple times and have definitely not heard them say that.
