Why is the amazon so ungodly ugly?

All that and I thought it had nothing to do with racism?
I thought it was manly feature for sexual preference of its creator. A bad outlook what a character should look like in Diablo. I’d rather have feminism in a woman, but maybe the content creator had a difference in opinion. But we all know Blizzard, seems to be having problems with their staff.

Looks like the Amazon been through hell, with scars and burns, from all the hell she’s been through. It’s been a longtime since we seen Diablo Reborn, and she was resurrected from her death many times now. Maybe that is fitting?

That is a levelheaded take on the matter.
The only racism I have seen in game, is the race swapping of the assassin.
The mainstream seems to be erasing women in general, “birthers” and all that jazz…
If the characters were all haggard/broken looking, then maybe the “reborn” aspect would be more plausible.

1.) The word Diablo is Hell
2.) Racism is hatred
3.) If there was any of that, I blame Diablo for his Evil

Now how you got that out of characters portrait, I don’t have an answer for that

The strawmans are strong here. The issue isn’t that people want to sexualize a character. The issue is that people want a faithful remastering of a character.

I don’t understand the problem with someone being appealing AND a strong character?
Don’t we all aspire to be strong and appealing?

There’s no sexualizing anything here, it’s just that we prefer strong and good looking characters to represent ourselves and play dress up with (yeah, we are indeed doing that, let’s not fool ourselves). Why should a strong woman absolutely be somewhat ugly and a pretty woman be weak? That’s definitely a poor way to stereotype.

Same thing for the guys, while I understand the Necromancer being somewhat an older guy almost looking goulish (fits with the lore of raising the deads), the Paladin really goes against the stereotype of the good looking strong and vaillant character. I don’t care about the skin color honestly, whatever, just make him like a goddam Paladin with loads of charisma!

However the poor taste is with the Assassin being Asian, that’s just… please stop with the martial arts = asian thing. Make the Sorceress asian like in D3 if you must, would make more sense lore wise, but leave that assassin alone.

I think she’s pretty good looking and an accurate representation of what an amazon might look like. Why do the men all get to have faces that reflect what life would be like after a lifetime of battle but not the women? Do you really think a warrior would have a face with not a wrinkle to be seen, plump cheeks, rosy lips and thick eyelashes? Of course they wouldn’t.

She’s not ugly though, she falls within a range of what perfectly normal women look like. Not every woman has delicate ultra-feminine features, most men generally only think they do because of the amount of makeup that majority of women put on to create that illusion.

What are your thoughts on Sarah Conner from the original terminator series?

Hey, I don’t have a problem with that.
I don’t recall junk being represented like the ladies have.
Is that a thing?

Your 69th post is quite the tell.

If the hero is virtuous, noble, caring, empathetic, skilled, strong, resourceful and really really good looking he can also be packing downstairs. Zero issue with this, women in video games are often portrayed as strong as or stronger than their male counterparts but sadly people don’t play the games and so obsess over their first impression, which is 99% of the time, the appearance.

Hahaha I got flagged for moderator review. It was nice knowing yas!

I probably wouldn’t say it’s a “thing” but it is a myth that women aren’t as visual as men.

On a somewhat related note… think of every good movie/series you’ve seen and the ones that you enjoyed the most probably had decent female characters with substance and appropriate actresses to portray them.

Ignoring the ending for a moment, consider game of thrones - the female characters contributed largely to the storyline and the actresses reflected those characters. Lady Olenna was brilliant. So was Margarie, and was also smoking hot as per her character. The series is riddled with characters of various degrees of conventional beauty but even the “ugly” ones were generally appreciated by the majority because they were characters of value and contributed to the story. Overall the series was a massive worldwide success (… ignoring the ending…)

Then think of all the crappy movies and series you’ve watched, and chances are it’s riddled with beautiful characters who make little sense, contribute little and are more often than not played by an actress whose age/look doesn’t match the character she’s playing. Often those movies are pretty crappy. (Yes I’m referring to you, season 3+ of The Last Ship)

I’d add more but I think I’ll probs be banned soon so I’ll leave it there.

Oh and for those of you who reported me as offensive for saying the D word, go take a look how many times boobs have been referred to in this topic and the context of those discussions.

“This with bigger boobs, perfect”
“I think it’s fair to say she had huge sexy boobs”
“The amazon has the best woman boobs I’ve ever seen!”
“Not only were her boobs as big as her head…”

Where are the reports for all of those? How about some consistency? Why can you talk about anatomy “inappropriately” but I can’t? This is precisely the sort of bullshiz that’s resulting in this wave of “political correctness” that ya’ll are complaining about. And you’ll deserve every second of it.

Welcome to the party pal  :+1:

You have some good points as to the variety, and the value attributed to people.
There isn’t anything wrong with old, or ugly.
I think many within this thread were expecting something a little more faithful to the old art style.
If you have the time, it is actually quite a good read.

That does seem to be the overriding opinion in this thread but have you guys ever actually analysed her look? She’s not even wearing armour, her skin has been painted red. Armour isn’t that thin as to so clearly define abdominal muscles and belly buttons. She’s basically a topless character that’s been painted red.

Hey, the developers themselves stated that was the goal.
Back then, shock still had value.
“Dark & Sexy” was a thing, especially considering the censorship of the time.
Made it all the more alluring. Alot of movies were the same as well.

Yo mamma so ugly she makes the Manazon look like Beyonce!
