Why druid? Honest question

You should really try one. The Mind Blast skill is my favorite crowd control skill in the game (and she has corpse popping traps for a mini corpse explosion to boot). She is great while still using MF gear (a.k.a crap gear) much like a necromancer.

As for the druid: I enjoy them for the coolness factor. Transforming is just fun. (I also find them to be much better at surviving than paladins, but that may just be me being bad at playing paladins).

because doggo

in reality though

feral rage allows u sustain on pretty much any monster with a leech value, giving you extremely high life and sustain

summons can tank
you can clear any content in the game with an act 3 fire merc

but mostly… doggo…

While this is true it is slower than 2 old people trying to… do things.

I am playing it right now its stupid slow and clunky. It was fun leveling but fissure is 10000x faster to lvl with but i had fun at least.

Currently playing a bear druid armagheddon on hardcore, currently at 8 k hp with 6 k dmg AoE both Fire and physical (together around 3 k each) spamming Aoe Stun with a little army meat shield infront of me… must say i never felt as safe as this build… is it the best ? probably not … am i having a blast ? yuuup.

whats the aoe stun again? is it the one after maul?

Yeah right after maul called Shockwave. just put 1 point in it and with the + all skill you can stun a good 7-8 sec without investment, pretty damn amazing !

Druid is not the meta in any sense
It can have really fun and engaging builds that appeal to some people.

They vary trash tier to ‘just good’, but pvm is easy at this point. So with good gear, some of those builds can be enjoyable and decent speed.

  1. Its a hard counter vs hammerdins.

Trapsins are extremly versatile and also very safe. Even if they aren’t safer than a Necro they can also solo the entire game while poor and have a way more interesting gameplay than a Necro without Enigma, especially a boring summoner.

Phoenix Strike Assassins are weak overall but the gameplay is really unique and one of the best if not the best.

Blade fury Assassins are very good trav runners with low gear.

MA assassins are also fun and strong but gear dependant.

Kicksin is the second best uber killer in the game and a budget kicksin might be cheaper to build than a budget smiter. Also the assa kit makes them way easier to deal with the monsters in furnace of pain & matron’s den.

Because some players like it even if it’s the weakest class.

Shape Shift Druids are great at pvp. You need to ensure you have max block vs some builds and try to hit 86% faster hit recovery. This is the benefit of the build. At 86% FHR, you hit the highest breakpoint in game while Werewolf. Fury works like Zeal but with better success, its damage output and attack rating is superior to zeal, and generally you will have far more life than most pallys. You could utilize Rabies vs sorcs, especially es sorcs, and ele druids. Cerebus bite is probably your best bet but Jalalas is good too. Alternatively, Fireclaw variant can be very powerful with just 6x Shael phase blade. Werebear form lacks the FHR but gives higher defense. WB can only use Fire Claws.
For pvm, melee druid is slow, only shines pvp.

Honest answer? Because they’re awesome, effective, and fun.

Assassin can also solo the game poor. Trapsin is super safe and can dual element so can easily clear the game solo.

woah woah woah, you can’t seriously be trying to compare SUmmonmancer vs Druidsummon, are you? Summonmancer is by far the worst class in the game, With the only build that makes it somewhat nice being Fishymancer, and even he explains that the build goes bad depending on what you’re facing, mainly Hell Bosses. Literally the saving crutch for the build is Corpse Explosion, but if you do a full on Summonmancer build vs Summoner Druid, it’s plain as day that Druid is superior. Druid has:

Better all resist at level 17 in his skills, they hit the max resist of 85 for them.
Recastable summons with no fee besides mana.
better synergies focused on buffing every animal in his tree
a Poison Creeper that can do sizable poison damage due to the group count on poison mats.
Spirits that not only empower the druid and the pets, but everyone else around, making them great support summons.
Solid HP for said summons, hitting into 7k-13k for recastable minions.
and finally a Bear that can do 30k damage a swipe if built for it.

Necromancer’s summon skill tree is absolutely terrible save for 2 key skills, one is Clay Golem, because due to the scaling, it actually gets a solid buff of 68-75k health if you manage to focus into it entirely with Golem Mastery and Blood Golem and therefore has 1.1k regen per second, and Revives, due to the fact certain monsters revived can have crushing blow, so with enough of them, you can just telestomp.

Skellies are nice throughout Normal and Nightmare, but once you get into Hell, all bets are off. Even with 10k health, they end up melting pretty quickly against caster-based enemies in Hell, ESPECIALLY in Act 4 and 5 where Conviction Auras are essentially your ultimate nightmare. Because even with a high level Summon resist, the best you’re getting is a lousy 73-74%, which means jack all in such scenarios, giving it a -6% resistance, they end up getting blasted, and it only gets worse with LR curse in play.

Iron Golem is absolutely terrible. Due to the factors I said above, and Even with a high investment into Golem Mastery and Blood Golem, it only comes out at 12.9k health, and with such subpar resistances, your expensive investment can be deleted in just moments depending on what you accidentally encounter out in the game while leveling up and farming. Even making a Chains of Honor golem (good god, why?) wouldn’t be enough against Conviction Aura casters, and even Lightning Resistance isn’t enough to save it against Doom Knights casting LR as well.

Fire Golem is…okay? Only shines against fire casters and the holy fire damage pulses is nice to attract threats so you could make a Thorn build around it. Suffers from the same issue with Iron Golem, though, with low HP for it’s cost, and low HP regen.

And Skelly Mages are just…LOL

So yeah, Druid Summon has some issues, like the spirit wolves doing abysmal cold, or like how the Ravens cast their own curse, therefore they’re annoying when you’re casting Amplify, but they have far less issues vs a pure summon necromancer.

Just got done beating Baal in hell on ladder as a full summoner druid with just enough points in shapeshifting tree to have a 1 point bear and shockwave. So far I have 7 points for druid skill. 3k life as a bear with oak spirit out and a 5 second frontal cone stun. I didn’t even bother trying to get resist gear, I just focused on stacking health and whatever skill points I was lucky enough to get on gear.

It was enjoyable being able to relax a little and watch my pets just gobble up everything while I would pick and choose which monsters to stun to help it along. Its not the fastest killing speed like my hammerdin but I had no trouble killing everything that I came across.

Chose a fire act 1 merc over act 2 merc as well with an edge runeword bow for the 15 thorns aura. I would recommend that bow for anyone doing either a summoner necro or summoner druid. 25-45 were a breeze with it. There was nothing, literally nothing that I came across that I couldn’t kill eventually at least.

Why druid? I would say why not druid.

Oh, and better yet, even in terms of scaling, the Druid’s pets are even TANKIER in terms of defense! For example, a lvl 50 spirit wolf with a 95 Druid on Ladder with the defense bonuses can have up to 12,121 defense, meaning most trash mobs will rarely ever hit the damn things, 15,544 for the Dire Wolves, and 12,432 for the bear. This is Defense rating capable of even causing Ubers to struggle a bit with nailing a hit on them, besides Lilith.

Frankly I’d rather have just the revives and corpse explosions than everything in the summon druids kit combined.

That’s fine, but again, the point was to look at the entire summon class tree and realize that most of Necro’s skill tree is just utter crap, or downright useless, save for one and another one that acts more like a gimmick than anything else.

I mean tbh it’s kinda the same for summon druid. Fastest clear speed is still just slamming 1 point in summons to meatshield and spec literally anything else.

who the hell was talking about Clear Speed? I’m talking about actual usage and clearing through Hell, PERIOD, dealing with different mobs and Aura enchantments, and going with a pure summonmancer ends up being absolutely terrible vs a SUmmon Druid, who can easily clear it out due to items and stats.
