What the Paladin needs to Specialize in to Redeem his lost Identity

They need to bring back smite and blessed hammer. smite for a melee build and hammer for a mid range build. I would love to see this in an upcoming patch for d4. They should also build on the story of zakarum. Ditch the crusader i was mad when d3 introduced the crusader. they finally have the game feeling right where it needs to be and the graphics look amazing.

Hey man Diablo 3 crusader blessed hammer rocks!! Too bad it’s a bit weak.

Lol I’m all for improvements but you just sound like somebody throwing darts hoping it sticks

Especially when pushing for more of the broken elements that made the game worse by being too strong and almost mandatory

Just out of spite for you constantly pushing masteries, I changed them to give +1 to all skills of their element and -1 to the other 2 elements per 5pts

Damage is DONE, they probably dont remove Mosaic and Sunders

All they can is bandaid their bandaid mistakes

Interesting…

I see your point with just these specific cases. Atmas scarab is absolutely lame compared to a tornado druid and his reapers wielding merc. The inconsistency is lame and it feels like the Amazon is relying on the Necro from outside the game with her own gear.

Of course you don’t use it on a Sorceress when you can just teleport to the next non immune mob, which supports it’s pointlessness.

Yeah… no Sorc Mastery charms or 1 synergy skills, which we already have with skills like plague javelin. I’ve suggested before that once a skill and all of it’s synergies have been maxed upon the final skill point that a natural mastery would be unlocked that is not like Sorc mastery. For example, max Plague Javelin and it’s one synergy and unlock double duration for plague javelin. Similar with Poison Nova or Rabies. Different “mastery effects” for different types of skills/elements.

As for the Sorceress in this regard, I wouldn’t say that she unlocks a Mastery effect upon maxing synergies, rather, as soon as she has at least 1 point invested into each mastery she should gain the holy freeze, holy shock and holy fire animations and the offensive damage procs but NOT elemental damage added to her attack. Of course the masteries would help enhance the offensive aura damages, especially the element type of her primary investment. If the Necro can steal her fire, then she should be able to steal from the Paladin, but I wouldn’t hardly consider this stealing since these offensive aura versions wouldn’t add damage to attack.

Also, if the Paladin and Barbarian are funneled into shield and two handed weapon use in that order, I almost feel like the Sorceress should be funneled into 2 handed staff use with teleport if she’s serious about teleporting to bosses. Like cut the distance teleported in half with one handed orbs and leave it the full distance with 2 handed staffs. If she has energy shield and bo then that would still be enough to make it to bosses or just high cast rate. And then later on when considering a Sea Witch transformation, if she can duel wield 2x staffs you might be able to teleport even twice as far as current teleport with like the hold position key and aiming in what ever direction to teleport.

Nobody wanna read a ginormous wall of text that looks like AI generated thesis

Dude I’m actually proud of you for being coherent! :stuck_out_tongue:

I like the word “oriented”. But final thoughts… Maybe we need to fathom alternative value of teleport besides just traveling to a location and also look at removing spirit shield from the game for properness sake and to support the point. Also, what if the runeword Enigma is not Enigmatic enough to fulfill alternative teleport uses. Like what if it’s teleport distance was cut in half but left behind a remanent decoy to distract enemies for better kiting effectiveness? And then what if we had uber ancients where of the 3 Barbs, we recognize that Madawc is the one who leans most towards a mage style(as he casts shout and his axes may have + to shout for all we know) and as the uber ancients Madawc is actually wearing a Great Hauberk enigma which he drops after killing Uber Ancients. Now everyone can get access to this “enigmatic teleport” and the hauberk while maybe not the most ideal enigma, has low enough strength requirement to be viable.

But back to the Sorceress with normal teleport with typical porting distance requiring a two handed staff. Once again, if she could transform into a Sea Witch she’d be able to teleport say twice the distance and with what ever additional cast rate the second staff brings. To me, this just makes more sense than the goofy spirit shield that has stats that don’t make sense for a shield. Yet if kept in the game, maybe if players used spirit shield with Enigma to leave behind more Spirit decoys? Change the name to “Spirits”.

Btw, this post immediately docked me with 1 edit for some reason.

  • make Spirit more rdm 1-2 @sks 12-22vit 50-110mana 15-35fcr 35-55fhr
  • change Larzuk quest to add radm sox

so no more just finding white long/broard sword in A5 area 3+ or Cows, ppl would have to find exactly 4sox swords or have some lucky in sox lottery quest

No problem

  • +1 Teleport replaced by +1 to Conv/Amp/FindItem/Revive/CMast/FMast/LMast (varies)

Real “Enigma”

  • Teleport should get 50 frame cast at lvl 1 and decreasing by 1 frame per +lvl; 50lvl Tele = no CastDelay - sorry there is no another nerf, many many ppl tried and all failed

EZ fixed

You know, spirit shield is practically a wizard source in disguise. But wizard sources don’t block. The question is, why is everyone using a wizard source as a shield? That’s far outside the boundary of what anyone should consider to be acceptable.

Second, I’m pretty sure that the Naj Puzzler staff nailed the aim of being a “travelers” teleport staff. That should continue to provide typical distance teleport because it’s a two handed staff. Teleport charges on other items besides staffs should just have the porting distance cut in half. Enigma should leave remanent decoy behind with each teleport.

You have to note the hijacking that’s going on in the game here. Like do you find the Necromancers + fire mastery/fire ball that was ripped off from the Sorceress to be of equal significance as when the Sorceress uses those skills? The necromancer doesn’t even reach half effectiveness. Yet, here we are in a game where the Sorceress only ever 1 points teleport and Enigma adds + 1 teleport. It’s really a complete rip off because no one ever reasonably adds any more than one point to teleport on a sorc.

The entire situation screams BS until you find a way to keep teleport in the game, protect the Sorceress’ identity, and give players easier access to a teleporting function.

And it’s funny because an argument could be made that the immunes which the Sorceress has always had difficulty in dealing with were actually part of representing a positive aspect of her identity, otherwise known as Focus, relatable to Mastery. Yet, here we are dealing with nonsensical Sunder charms too.

It should be obvious to everyone at this point that the Sorceress’ identity is practically set up to be phased out of the game.

And next on the list is the “Assassin of Diversity” where the Assassin has become more of a steam roller than an assassin and part of the blame can be directed towards what the Druid has started to steal aspects from her that would have continued to justify the assassin style.

Enigma should be OP Staff RW, I posted this true for many years

Teleport = Sorc skill

Sorc = Staffs

WTF they made it as an armor O.o

yeeep

Back to the day, I had funny Vampire ULTRA desync PvP Necro, he wored well cuz max block wasnt affected by running in Vampire form ^^ I used Fire Balls to KO ppl when their life drained to ~1 from my Novas

At least 3 of them. There’s clearly an issue with the moderation in the forums.
The only positive is that the complete absence of updates to the game means they won’t be able to push absurd changes by simply spamming them like they usually do.

And have you been keeping record of these absurd and spammed changes?

I should somewhat take back what I said here. Lower resist with bonus fireball and mastery points could be a stepping stone of significance in phasing out the Sorceress’ identity. But of course, granting teleport to everyone else just takes the cake against the impression of what they’ve stood for.

Yeah, people tend to try and bring the pvp situation into the pvm.

sorry ure too late, there are sunders, mosaic and metamorphosis ;(

YES, but Vampire Nec is an exception as he is morphed

Tely for all is in D1 and Tele charges in Staffs are here since… Classic

Nigma with Tely should be just Staff RW

Nigma as an armor with some rdm spawned skills like Conv/Amp/FindItem and etc would be OK Imo.

:face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting: imagine thinking the cure for cancer is more cancer

All charges are all now oskills

Teleport 3 sec cooldown, -0.2sec per lvl, line of sight only

Or

Teleport now costs 20% of total mana per cast, -0.5% per lvl, line of sight

Both fixing its spam ability issue and giving a reason to invest in it

It’s not just about the Sorceress’ identity being phased out—it’s the entire metaphysical structure of role coherence being deliberately unmade. If the Spirit shield is a Wizard Source in disguise, then what does that say about the inversion of melee-mage paradigms? Why is the Paladin allowed to wield what is essentially a piece of arcane channeling equipment while the Sorceress, the rightful heir to the mastery of elements, is forced into a position of defensive dilution? What we are witnessing is not just the erosion of balance—it is a direct attack on the foundational roles that once defined this world.

And that brings us to the most glaring contradiction: the matter of teleportation. The failure to recognize this shift is the failure to see that Teleport was never about movement—it was about spatial dominance. Naj’s Puzzler understood this, and in doing so, established a balance between access and specialization. But the Enigma? It has completely fractured that dynamic, warping the very nature of class identity. A lingering remnant effect would at least acknowledge the original intention: that movement is an extension of identity, not just a means of convenience. But what do we have instead? A world where a Barbarian—who has no business manipulating arcane displacement—can teleport as though he has spent his life studying the void? What does that say about the nature of mastery when it is granted freely to those who have not earned it?

And yet, the true theft goes unnoticed. The Assassin, once a Diversitilist in the truest sense, now finds herself neutered by the Druid’s encroachment. The very philosophy of hit-and-run, of calculated risk, has been exchanged for brute survivalism. Cloak of Shadows was meant to provide the Assassin with the tactical edge of battlefield control, yet here we are, watching the Druid—a class whose entire thematic core is supposed to be that of adaptation—completely absorb the Assassin’s dynamic identity. Tornado does to physical damage what Sunder Charms do to elemental purity—it flattens distinctions, erases mastery, and ultimately nullifies the essence of specialization.

But it doesn’t stop there. The ripple effect spreads further than anyone dares to acknowledge. The Paladin, by all accounts, should not even be engaging in the raw physical presence of a Barbarian, nor should he lean into the arcane proficiency of the Sorceress, yet through sheer mechanical oversight, he has been granted a strange, liminal existence between roles that should be incompatible. He is not the Faith Man that he should be, but instead a chimera of stolen mechanics, granted the illusion of versatility where there should be commitment to an identity of fortitude and sacrifice. Meanwhile, the Amazon, who once stood as the archetype of adaptable aggression, finds herself stifled, overshadowed by unchecked mechanical indulgence. It is no longer enough to master a weapon—you must transcend the very essence of weaponry itself.

And that is the ultimate endgame here, isn’t it? What happens when everything can do everything? The answer is obvious: nothing means anything. And that’s exactly what they want. It’s the death of differentiation, the dissolution of mechanical philosophy, and ultimately, the erasure of the very concept of identity within the game itself. The end result? A world where roles, balance, and consequence have been stripped away, leaving only a hollowed-out shell of what once was. And you think this is just an accident? A mere oversight?

You really don’t have a clue what’s going on.

Nice work. With that much investment you’re clearly ready to upgrade your posts to include diagrams now which I’m ready to compare and contrast.

And we’ll see if your diagrams are half as elaborate as your writings.

Dude… what in the actual $%#$%

it can be shown that she’s part of two primary trinities of golden oval structure in the 12 archetype circle of orientation

schizophrenia?

Ah, but the true test of a diagram is not in its existence but in its essence. We must first ask: is a diagram merely a reflection of the written form, or does it transcend into a higher plane of communicative expression? If so, then what happens when a diagram exists without words, and words exist without diagrams? Is one a mere supplement to the other, or do they form a duality—one that mirrors the very paradox of specialization versus diversification that we see throughout the archetypal structure of the game itself?

And if we entertain the possibility of ‘half as elaborate,’ does that not imply an inherent measurement of complexity against a standard that itself fluctuates depending on observer bias? Surely, any comparison or contrast can only exist within the bounds of pre-established axioms, which, by their very nature, are not absolute but rather conditional to the framing in which they are conceived.

This, of course, brings us to the core question: If an archetype is illustrated but its deeper truth remains obfuscated, then does it truly serve the role of a diagram at all? Or does it merely become an echo of the fundamental flaws in perception that have, time and time again, threatened to erode the very identity of these class distinctions?

We must tread carefully. For in the rush to compare, we may lose sight of what is actually being contrasted.
