What settings do you enjoy with your current hardware?

I’m confused: I read a great deal about the hardware requirements being rather modest for D2R, but more recently I’ve read some staggering numbers for both VRAM and system RAM. This makes me wonder what would be necessary to run D2R in 4K with everything maxed out.

My rig is old. I upgraded the graphics card primarily to play D2R. I’m using the Medium preset settings at 2560×1440. I notice the load screens are longer than I’d like, and I’ve seen an occasional hitch. Even at Medium, it looks so much better than the original version I was playing just the other day!

Intel Core i7-950
12GB triple channel DDR3 @ 1600 MHz
MSI VENTUS XS GTX 1660 Super 6GB

This game looks incredible even at medium settings, and you’ve got your resolution at a nice spot too.

For myself, im just running it on steam deck… 800p@mix of medium/high settings fetches me stable 60fps.

If I’m hooked up to a tv, I have to choose between 720p@60fps or 1080p@40ish fps.
I tried setting it to 4K, and the steam deck did not appreciate that…. 15-22 fps lol

D2R doesn’t really scale well with hardware.

6800xt and 5800x3d here and I capped frames at 100fps since my 21:9 is set to 100hz refreshrate, but D2R doesn’t really allow “stable” frames and is jumping up and down if you don’t set a limit.

My system specs: Ryzen 9 3900X, 16GB DDR4, GTX 1080 Ti FE, 1TB Gen4 NVME SSD, dual 1080P@165hz monitors.

I can run the game at the refresh rate of the monitor, but the aging 1080Ti has to work extra hard in areas with grass/shrubs, and the FPS tanks in those areas… So I just run it at 60hz, it plays super smooth.

The OG runs at 25 FPS, so 60 FPS is more than enough to enjoy the game.

I’m trying to make this 1080Ti last as long as it can through this graphics card pricing nightmare that NGREEDIA/cryptocurrency has created. It doesn’t look like it’s going to be over any time soon either.

I play at full settings with resolution upscaling at 140 and sharpness 50.

My rig is

AMD Ryzen 5600x
32GB 3600 Mhz
Evga RTX 3080
1 Tb Nvme Gen4 SSD
144 hz Gaming Display

110-125 FPS @ 2560x1440, DLSS off.

Right!? The grass and shrubs are insane lol. One of the most impactful settings.

Uncapped, I get 100-125 fps in worldstone keep, yet bareely 60 in stony field lol
But…if I turn off the grass, I get somewhere around 85fps in Stoney field

So 4K is a pipe dream, something that won’t be common for years?

Is the game overambitious or simply not optimized?

not optimized. 4k isn’t a problem, but not with your hardware.

caped at 144 @4k with my setup
usually over 200 fps if uncaped

travincal is crap, drops to 110-130 are common there
