Upcoming Balance Changes In Relation To PvP Look Terrible

PVP stopped being relevant a long time ago. The only people who do it now are trolls harassing people.

And i told you it is just your opinion  . I know enough about pvp.

Explain to me exactly what is the issue with new stuff in relation to pvp? Be specific.

No kidding. It is way less than 1%.

PvP is the only reason to improve eq. Pve in D2 is so easy that entire high-end gear is completely useless.

So I get that its irrelevant for you, but its the only place where getting even 1 perc upgrade matters. And also the only place where you can show your skill.

Hard to tell, i would say more than 1% from online player base play pvp even if it is just occasions duel or pk for fun. I would say it is still important to keep pvp in mid when changing stuff but TSboyer is afraid without knowing facts.

I won’t say you should take PvP into account, but PvP should be or secondary importance to PvM since very small percenz of players play PvP.

Play Fortnite or CS. or LoL if people want PvP where the games are balance for PvP.

But its just wrong. PvM is so easy in D2 that high-end gear is utterly useless.
So PvP is the only place where it matters regardless if you play it or not.
Most of pure Pvm folks will hardly have the need or knowledge to get certain top-end items.

So now everybody else should go and play something else because you don’t care about PvP?
Thought that was a poor argument of the purists xD

Ofc real PvP games are better balanced than D2. I also prefer them for PvP over D2. It’s still not necessary to ruin that aspect of the game for those who like D2 PvP.

Druid summoner buffs. All i care personally.

This is a good point. Changes arent necessarily bad, but please be mindful. And when I see things like buffing bone necs, or druids summon stack, or FoH, i don’t get the impression they are being mindful.

PVP keeps the game alive. A rotating PVM meta based on power-creeping a new set of skills/items each season does too, but I don’t really want to play D3/PoE/PD2. I want to play Diablo 2.

It can’t be SO broken that the community can’t create a rule set to make the PVP relatively balanced. Currently, it is that broken. Can’t say for sure whether that design direction seems to be changing until we see that patch notes and try the PTR (LOVE having a PTR btw, great decision!), but I am not optimistic.

I don’t think they ever did for D2. It’s not a PvP game and never has been. It’s a PvE game with a hostile feature, nothing more.

I get that PvP in D2 has its niche and I personally hope that community gets to continue doing what they enjoy. But the truth is that PvE balance will always come first in this game and will always outweigh PvP considerations, assuming PvP is even considered at all which it’s probably not.

At first glance, these changes could cause some major shifting of power in PvP, but I think we can handle it. Whenever a game releases some major balancing patch like this, there will likely be another rebalancing patch afterwards to fine tune it. I’m not overly concerned with balancing changes in general; it will make things interesting. And if you have skill in PvP in general, there isn’t much that will keep us hiding in town. We figure out ways to counter s***, that’s just what we do.

My biggest concern with all of this, though, is that there are plenty of bugs and user interface issues that really need to be addressed in my mind before doing anything at all with balancing. But, maybe some of these things will get addressed at the same time (hopefully). If not, either way, I’m confident that this game will inevitably improve over time.

It’s only strong in GM duels. You can stack so much absorb and resist that any lightning damage seems to heal you.

They definitely use to balance for it. They’d specifically adjust spells for player damage.

TSBoyer is tripping though. We haven’t even played any of these changes and he’s claiming they’re broken and PVP needs balanced, lol.

Damn, you guys contributed a lot of meaningful discussion with mechanical explanations that made sense to support your statements.

Exactly.

Yes.
Blizzard doesn’t want to balance PVP. No game does. The players always find a META. I’m sure there’s one for baseline D2 anyway. Balance patches are an important party of any competitive scene to shake things up. I’d recommend getting used to it.

This. Considering the overwhelming majority of the population cares more about PvM and just questing and playing the storyline, PvP concerns should take a backseat.

Nope, they didn’t remaster the game for the 2k people who would still play LOD once in a while, they remastered the game to cash on nostalgia and to introduce the game to a new audience. BTW they remastered all the classics its not something exclusive to D2, Blizzard doesn’t care about players they care about money.

PvP does not have a ladder!
PvP does not have gear specific for it
PvP does does not have game modes
