Generally people do this with people they trust, or people with decent reputations. Someone with hundreds of forum posts and a history of trades in the trading channel is less likely to scam you than someone you randomly find in game.
Trading for many unid torches/annis is easy way to get scammed especially when deal appears to be to be true; you’d end up buying a unid torch for ber. Easiest way is to agree on lower currency or get value back. So lets say someone wants a ber for 2 unid torches, I would give Lo for one as first trade and then trade Ber for Lo + 1x unid torch on 2nd transaction. If you ever get people acting upset by this tactic when the end result is the same then you should flair they are in for a scam. Some time ago when 3-20-20 sc was at around 90jahs and 5allres20life sc was at around 30jahs, I offered to trade 30jah+2x 5allres20life under the condition that I would then make 2x more trades to get the 2x 5-20 for 30 jahs. End result is the same, you pay 90jahs for a 3-20-20 but this way neither seller nor buyer is really taking a risk. Worked very well for both of us. I tried to do the same later on that week with someone else, they got all upset. My guess is they expected a free 40 to 80 jahs for nothing. By the way, dont think that if someone flashes something of value that he is automatically trustworthy. Scammers have been at it for some time now and they are no longer looking to steal the pgems you drop on ground.
I would trust anyone that has 200posts+ with flawless history. They probably value their reputation more than the potential scamming gains (rightfully).
yes that is right. you should trust OG traders like me
Hi,
Thanks a lot for you inputs
Would you value high Traderie ratings a good trust indicator? Lets say someone with 300 different 5 star reviews?
Thanks
no. unless the person has a paid traderie account, i wouldnt trust it.
Can you elaborate on that?
I use traderie and I sometimes trade bulk unidentified annis for HR. I use the review score as indicator for such transactions.
There’s been a recent change on traderie. Inflation has exceeded certain’s people ability to make profit. When 3-20-20s were going for 20 jahs, some people would try to save trade to save up to obtain 20 jahs. When they would finally obtain the required payment, 3-20-20’s would then cost 40 jahs. So they continued the grind and obtained the 40 jahs only to realize that they would then cost 60 jahs. The feeling is that certain items are constantly ‘slipping away’ and maintaining course is then unsustainable. At this rate there are 4 options:
i) You adapt your trading strategy and/or increase the time you dedicate through trading in order for your wealth increase rate to exceed the inflation rate
ii) You take your credit card out and then give false sense of reality to other traders (think of fake natty bodybuilders)
iii) You quit the game because you realize that the economy is rotten and there’s no fair playing field
iv) You scam people using the 40 square limit.
Right now on traderie, there are people with 200+ 5star reviews that have tried option 1, considered option 2 but did not pursue (either for moral or financial reasons) and are contemplating option 3. Some are also pursuing option 4 unfortunately. a 3-20-20 is worth around 150jahs right now. There are a half-dozen of traders selling 3-20-20 at 80-120 jahs which is well beneath the market. They are (in my opinion) 100% scammers attempting to use the 40square limit as a way to get a free 40 to 80 jahs. What do they lose? At the end of the day, they can just use a make a different account for free. Now if you paid monthly $ for a paid account, chances are that they are less likely to be scammers. I believe this is what Ozy is referring to.
I rarely buy such expensive things on traderie but I did hear of someone getting scammed on 3/20/20 for 80 Jah which is way below market. That just means I will only use the trade window on traderie now.
blizzard really should have monitored their economy. keep track of how many bers and jahs are in the money supply. and increase and decrease their droprates similar to bitcoin. by doing this, it will no longer make sense to do bot farming for runes and rares.
