PvP in D2/D2R requires a lot more skill than D2/D2R PvM, if we are not talking about public brawls, but you also don’t really profit from APM/Reaction above a certain level. But that doesn’t matter in the discussion if PvP is relevant or not. D2 ALWAYS had PvP and they have a community around PvP, so you can’t just ignore it. No matter if there are better/worse PvP games. It’s unrealistic that D2R becomes an ESPORTS title, but you don’t have to ruin PvP on purpose.
I see lots of trades around PvP items. Mostly bases for RWs with perf stats, perf rolls on runewords (sells for double the value), charms that are gimmick for PvM but go to in PvP (high life skiller or max/ar/life or life/res). CoA instead of shako. trires boots, craft boots, rings, belts, gloves, amulets. Rare rings with high rolls.
Most of them wouldn’t be a trading thing for PvM, as they don’t really change your PvM experience.
There are paid pvp events afaik. Just not sponsored by Blizz or any other Esports platform.
It feels like most people arguing against D2 PvP just got clapped hard in PvP in any game they touched and especially in D2. So they have to ruin PvP now.
I didn’t even know pvp was a thing till recently… This is a pvm game basically.
HOWEVER - if the pvp community is large enough, and enough complaints, topics etc. hit the forums - they will not be ignored…
Pvp does take skill, that’s the part that people are largely misunderstanding. The people complaining on the forums for some middle ground or a pvm-only change actually have some basis to their argument as they likely know the game deeper than most of you people posting. I don’t mean that as an insult either, it’s just true.
I do stream when I pvp, I’ve modified my overlays to be as transparent as possible in terms of how much effort is going into this duel, I have a keyboard on screen as well as an apm counter. I regularly hit 300apm when duels go over a minute long, it’s like when I played starcraft 1 as a kid.
I’ve played a bunch of games that are quite competitive or at least have a competitive mode 1.6, wow pvp, fortnite, valorant - and I still play D2 throughout all of these games because it’s insanely unique, so many actions have so many consequences in high tier pvp which is why there is always room to improve.
I just hope that people commenting and bashing pvp aren’t the ones who jump into a pub duel with their mfing cold sorc and die instantly to someone or stand in front of town with their hammerdin spamming hammers - that’s not the dueling scene we’re trying to preserve with some of these very in depth posts. Of course this is a meme video that I made because clearly blizzard doesn’t care
Agreed, there are more women than men, and men aren’t even required much, we could make do with only a few hundred men to ensure genetic diversity, make them slaves, harvest their reproductive material, and do away with all the rest, since more than a few hundred men are simply useless, why bother keeping them around using resources and having opinions and lives they enjoy? So I wholeheartedly agree
Just like crushing blow has reduced effect to players i think its easy enough for devs to counteract that 240% enhanced damage from sinergy.
The game never cared much of pvp, it’s just a button that allows ally damage to be honest. So devs are never gonna try to implement anything. The most and the least they could do is counteract changes that affects it.
And thats all we are asking for. That, and listening to us when they do change that are" only PvP focused". I’m talking about the hit recovery mechanic
I’ve been playing this game since 2000, and I still have no idea why anyone cares about PvP. It’s an oddity shoehorned into a game system that wasn’t designed for it, probably just because the devs thought it would be funny.
D2 is about as pvp oriented as Dark Souls is, and in the words of that genres creator, it wasn’t supposed to be hyper competitive. Merely a way for players to sometimes become the content for another player.
Cry more for us, PVP players. Your tears are so delicious!
I mean I’m PvM and frankly the “game” would be better off if both were removed. I mean Blizzard already made their money, their most profitable option would be to shut the servers down. I mean not like they have a reputation to care about anymore lol.
So, you’re saying that if we get rid of pvp, then all the stuff we get / want becomes cheaper? You’re not changing my opinion here if so… I have zero problems with stuff being cheaper… it’s not a competition after all…
I don’t think anything should dominate P8 the way some builds do. So if these folks are complaining about bowazon but admitting that bowazon isn’t blowing up P8 like Hammerdins, Sorcs, and Javazons are… sounds like Blizzard did a 100% perfect job.
The PvP community already has so many rules but are for some reason pretending that absolutely no further rules can be made in light of D2R patch notes. I mean, they only let you put 1 point in some skills, ban the use of others, don’t allow absorb gear, no potions, etc, but can’t come up with anything for Bowazon changes?
K.
I honestly can’t remember a time when I saw an organized pvp event or tournament that featured fully decked out builds with no restrictions on certain gear and skills.
Looks like children flailing to me. PvP in D2 has never been balanced out of the gate. It’s always required homebrewed rules to be competitive.
I’ll get it, you don’t PvP, so you have no clue about it. But Bowazon was already very viable in PvP and now got buffed with multiple changes.
More dmg on her main skills for pvp for free. No longer locked on A/D/E. FHR changes and removal of stunlock for 0 FHR chars.
All in the name of PvM, where she didn’t get a meaningful buff after all.
You can’t create rules for FHR changes, because you can’t avoid the mechanic and at some point it’s no longer worth creating rules that cripples characters because blizzard fails to balance the game right from the start of their changes.
