The original D2 experience! Dupes!

I can’t tell if they are trying to give us the real D2 experience or not. Wait, there’s dupes now online. I guess there it is, we have the OG D2 experience!

Worst fears :frowning:

I keep seeing people say it, but is it confirmed?

yes it’s confirmed, there’s a video of it as well.

Neener neener!! lol

But seriously, check out GGM’s newest video. It’s pretty bummer :frowning:

Oh no I care so much

I am unironically fine with bots and dupes after decades of playing diablo 2. I didn’t care then and I don’t care now.

This is not the first duping in D2R and it won’t be the last.

I think first method had something to do with Shared Stash, but I forgot details. Original private methods of D2: LoD can work in D2R too.

Can we remove trading now and improve drop rates so people can enjoy the video game as-is without resorting to exploits or “trading platforms” that are essentially RMT?

Dupes work until they check back with the server. So logging in and out or changing games will ensure its wiped out before trading, or that was the case before.

A video is great and all but anyone could dupe an item, having that item stay is a different question.

that video dont show any dupe.
not to say that ther is not any dupe cause ther is. but you dont see it in that video.

The first “rust storm” I encountered was well after the duping occurred… and often after trading. A lot of people lost SoJ’s that they had traded to get . I would not be surprised if similar things could still happen.

Did Blizzard ever make it a constant check? I wonder when that change occurred. I never duped things myself so I am not sure if/when such a change actually occurred for the original game (although I did hear about a few methods… most of which involved intentionally causing the game or entire servers to crash :rage: to force roll-backs).

I imagine most of those duping methods would not carry over to Bnet 2.0 at all.

Then again… there were rollbacks in D2R… back before the first ladder, if I recall correctly.

Dont forget, they were DDOSed only last week making all the HC lot lose their chars.

Something (might be) afoot.

Pretty confident everything gets checked more often on D2R. D2 was pretty much abandonware for a decade.

I’ve never received a dupe in all my years but I’ve always insisted on them joining my games.

Finding dupes in the sellers game is much easier as no checks have been done and won’t be until some kind of unload. Again though no clue, just if you are worried an extra step would be for them to join your game.

D2 dupe methods mostly abused trade screen loop holes, namely the inventory buffer. Years ago it was discovered that with packet manipulation you could trick the server into letting you be in trade screen and move freely but was patched at some point. There has always been some variation of this exploit due to the way trade screen works. While in trade, your inventory is essentially copied and any action that results in a failed trade will revert your inventory such as having full stash.
Sucessfully dropping items on ground while in trade screen is the key to duplicating.

I haven’t looked into D2R but I’m certain the trade screen is similar to D2 LoD. Maybe the devs can revise the trade screen if needed.

It’s basically this or attempt to join a game with the same character that is already in another game, by “desynching” the game that said character is already on. Which I think is gone for good.

I do not know why people are surprised duping is happening, it’s running a lot of the same code. The inventory is problematic but dupers would probably experiment with the Shared Storage too for sure.
