The DELETE CHARACTER button should be fixed IMMEDIATELY

Wow, they just released a patch and didn’t update the icon. Madness.

Sorry that happened man.

My PC version connects to the Xbox handle

I accidentally pressed X and a, and all my efforts were gone in an instant

Why is it different from the switch version? Delete the role and put it in the secondary menu?

I hope to have role recovery service like Diablo 3

None of the Diablo games have any in-game restoration services. All they have is the pre-programmed game mechanics.

D2, D2R, and D3 have item buyback from vendors if you have not left the town/area. D3 has a button to let you restore the last deleted character. Any characters besides that can’t be restored in D3 either. CS can not help.

D2 and D2R don’t have that. CS has no logs or tools to restore chars with.

That’s not the point. A red X in the corner of the screen is known to be close program.

I used to think it not a problem, until i was completely wasted and distracted. just rushed to close the game and clicked the first (and only) red button. clicked the popup on muscle memory, you know how some games also have popup before exiting the game. all in all just unfortunate.
given how many people have the same issue its definitely a design flaw. human stupidity should always be taken into account.
so many easy fixes, don’t know why it takes so long to do something. change the x to say delete or a trashcan, and make the exit game button red. that’s it.
why is there even a possibility of loosing progress at all?

Good grief. How many safeguard and hand holds does one need. In before they add it as:

Delete Character Button Pressed
“Are you sure you want to delete this character” Click Yes
“Please type ‘Delete’ to delete this character” Typed Delete
“Are you absolutely sure you wish to delete this character forever with no ability to restore” Click Yes
“Please type your Battlenet User ID and Password to verify you wish to delete this character”

Theres only so much idiot proof one can do before it gets to be annoying for everyone else that actually reads the prompts or pays attention to what they are doing.

Well you’re obviously far more intelligent than the rest of us, so I’m sure you’ll think of a way to handle it.

Blizz could add a confirmation dialog like in wow.
But like everything else in D2R, they use the “classic feels” excuse to be lazy about adding any QoL improvements.

Now you’re going far left to exaggerate the issue. The type “delete” would be good enough safeguard and will confirm the action and that would be enough. Further than that is completely redundant and becomes annoying for the user that indeed wants to delete a character (which is likely a low level 1).

Further more there’s smarter things to add for recognizing safeguards and when to use them. If an “If” statement was made to detect a character greater than level 5 than the type “delete” confirmation would be needed would probably make a lot of sense.

One other problem of the UI that not many people realize is the defaulting of your highest character level at the top. When entering the Lobby and then exiting, it PRESELECTs your highest character regardless of what character you were actually using. So for example, if you create a new character at level 1, start and enter a game, exit out of game and back to the Lobby. Guess which character is “Pre-selected”? Not the new character, but your highest level character.

So if you had that notion of wanting the delete the character you last used quickly, and you assumed that jumping to lobby then hitting the “X” button then confirm is where you can lose your best character. IT also doesn’t help that the confirm Dialog doesn’t tell you which one you’re actually deleting.

What does that tell you? They realize it isnt broken and have bigger things on their plate atm.

I just discovered the ignore user feature

They are working on a delete character confirmation of some sort. They are listening.

Agreed. Literally the first thing I did on the PS5 version was almost accidentally delete my character, when I was just trying to log on and play with it (to test cross progression).

I’m just trying to get into the game and it’s like DELETE CHARCTER??? What? NO!

I do not understand your motives for berating people who made clicking mistakes. Guess you are just having trouble putting your mind into others.

You disregard the fact that most people use the muscle memory when playing video games, and might do some careless clicking. But guess what… there is a simple “idiot proof” method, and it worked well in WoW. And that is why we made some noise, and now they heard us. Simple story

Hope you didn’t suffer too much hearing about people giving feedback. And I hope you don’t work with feedback in your day job.

Or just pay attention to you click finger dude!

I haven’t deleted any characters I didn’t want to ever because I pay attention!

I support this, the UI needs to be redone. The legacy version had already addressed this same problem years ago, but the UI feature in this game looks like it was just a copy/paste template from World of Warcraft’s character management screen, and the new team didn’t bother/notice the difference. But with WoW you can restore your character if you delete it, not the case here. Accidentally deleted a HC necro myself late one night because I was too tired to notice the confirm box.

It would make more sense if people were losing data because they took their computer into the bathtub to play. There is no warning, no pop-up confirmation, etc, you just plop down in the bathtub for a nice soak and game, then boom your stuff is fried and you die. Bad computer design! This thread makes me wonder if the reason we aren’t hearing from players with that issue is because they actually did game in the bathtub. Blizzard should have to check on all game owners who have not posted on the forum just to make sure, then move on to address this issue.
