Yeah again there’s also not another game where this many players are selling all their top end gear to merchants on accident. Even your hypothetical requires the player to be decision fatigued from hours of play and not in their right mind, so you know the issue is between the ears and not on screen.

Another thing they could do is show a message “Warning: This will PERMANENTLY delete your character. This action CANNOT BE REVERSED!” and give a 10 second timer before allowing you to press “Yes”. That way there is plenty of time for the message to sink in.
Make an additional agreement checkmark after “I agree that I am deleting this character, and I will not come to the forums or submit tickets to hassle tech support even if this is a mistake.”

That isn’t a UI difference that’s a solution you want, totally non-responsive to the post you’re replying to, please don’t make me have to tell you to follow the conversation, do basic reading etc. I’m fine with you getting this change that is purely from player screw ups, there is no need to become dishonest to convince me.
Make it all red, and that would be a huge improvement along with the trash can change.
They literally just need to revert it back to how the original D2 was and make you type in “DELETE” to delete a character. Not that hard of a change.

I totally agree with that for keyboard, but it wouldn’t work for controller where the situation is even more dire.
Agreed on that, in which case TheDarkJedi’s suggestion above sounds good for console players.
I propose than when you hit the red X by mistake , you need to type Delete to delete that character , anymore is just encouraging people to be stupid and holding their hands .
They need to bring back some og D2 buttons at least!

My favorite part is that the very same people denigrating others when it comes to the “delete” UI tend to be the ones who denigrate anyone who dares to suggest how the game could be made better.

Lol what, you can’t delete your battle.net account by clicking an x either. You guys come up with such terrible arguments that require people to ignore how UI always works, pretend you go looking at the bottom of a window for a way to close it, pretend people are deleting entire accounts on accident. And the hell of it is you got your way and this is already being fixed so what did it get you to lie to me?
Just like when you hit exit game and it pops up with a yes or no question ? it’s the games fault because in 30 years I’ve never deleted a character by accident. Not even in D2 which had “DELETE CHARACTER” as the button. D3 had it figured out, so did WoW, this issue was brought up in the beta by multiple users, it’s unacceptable. But you idiots keep coming out in droves saying “idiot don’t know read message durrrr” or “durr pay attention”. People get distracted, you’re mindlessly clicking for hours on end, the UI is a problem. All you karens coming out here telling us it’s our fault can go back to whatever hole you came from.

Yeah really, it shouldn’t be at all surprising that people are going into autopilot in a game for which the core gameplay loop is designed around insanely low drop rates and mindless repetition.

Thousands of ppl are just failing with reading ui text. I never told that only few ppl are lazy to read.
