Reset or liberalise character respecs with v2.4

Im also against free respecs but the chance of 1/13 for essence (might be slightly off) already includes multiple boss drops, so the chance really is more like 1/13 per kill so it can take some time to get them.

I dont see the need for 3 respecs with the new patch, if there will be some “compensation” just give every char a single respec on patchday or simply reset all skill allocations.

Ye there are pointless skill points spent after patch but it doesn’t make the char weaker then before since the other skills got buffed to compensate.
Idk why people can’t simply farm a token before the patch day comes.

If you cannot earn the essences to respec then you need either respec one of your characters to do so. Or delete and create one that can farm essences.

Yes it does, just not in all cases and most likely not for a max-level char. If you chose to invest in a skill on the basis it provides a synergy that will no longer exist. I know that synergy damage is being replaced by buffs to the synergy from other skills, but skill points are a finite resource and people who are levelling up may not have spent them in the skills that keep the synergy. For example a level 70(ish) trapsin who has invested 20 points in lightening trap and then all points in Deathtrap to get the synergy instead of shockweb and charged bolt (on the basis that deathtrap does +radius to a skill you use). In that case your lightening trap damage is going to lose a 240% buff. How is that not a nerf to an existing character?

Losing that 240% buff is really going to help them grind essences, right?

Well I come from a time where I needed to delete a char when I screwed up the stat points because you wanted to min max a char, or where one misclick in the skill tree meant a lost skill point with no way of respec so idk what you want to hear.

Really? It’s not 1/13 per drop, it’s 1/13 overall? Is it 1/13 if boss drops 3 items, and 1/13 if they drop 6? I honestly didn’t know it already included multiple boss drops, fascinating.

So you’re comparing a mistake you made to someone who built their character as desired for the current rules and then had all that information invalidated?

And that helps a level 60-70 trapsin who used Death trap to increase lightening trap damage lose all of that synergy, losing up to a 240% damage buff to the main skill used to deal with bosses? Not a problem for a max-level character who has already maxed out shock-web, charged-bolt and deathtrap, but using the old rules there is no reason to put more points in SW or CB until lightening and death are max. Other examples may exist, but Trapsin is the build i know best currently.

Lightening trap currently recieves a 12% synergy from Death Sentry, Shock Web and Charged Bolt trap. The new rules it will be 18% from only Shock Web and Charged bolt trap.

If you have a character that is currently 1 shock web, 1 charged bolt, 20 lightening and 20 death sentry you are going to lose almost all of the synergy. That is a nerf for a legitimately build character, it is unlikely to effect a max level character as they probably have 20,20,20,20 or close to. But if you are mid way through hell mode and you have that build you will see a very significant nerf. That’s not a non-sequitur it’s a pretty obvious interpretation of the two rules.

Yes it is a non-sequitur, I was talking about drop rates for essences, and you’re talking about…synergies and imagined nerfs, I really don’t see how it’s related. Also you do realize lightning trap will still be the same? They are removing 1 12% synergy, and buffing the other 2 by 6% (=12%). You’re literally complaining that getting buffed is going to make things more difficult, when uh, that’s not the case.

He’s been doing the same thing in another thread Cuddles, trying to justify that its a nerf by saying “what if the user hasn’t fully leveled up yet”. Well, level them and put the extra points into the synergies you have remaining. If you’re at end game, it really doesn’t matter. You still have a useable skill in Death Sentry (nobody uses it for the lightening damage anyway, just the corpse explosion), and getting a respec token these days is a joke.

He just wants something for nothing, and is grasping at the same broken straw to justify it.

It may depend which drop calculator you use but if i remember correctly at least silospen already takes that into account.

Dont looked up the exact chances for essences though, so it could be higher than 1/13 but i can assure you at least for the baal essence its not 6/13. Or i am just incredible unlucky ^^

Blizzard adding tones of area lvl 85 that will be suitable for HR farming for any builds flavors
I am very little concern about about screwing existent builds by removing some synergies but I found rather encouraging some love to Fire Druid (Armageddon now have Physical damage component) and now elemental druids have 2 options Phys-Fire and Phys-Cold
Nothing changes for Hammerdin or Smiter (except that dealing with second wave in Throne room become a bit harder since Holy Bolt no longer have Blessed Hammer as a synergy.
I am a little concern about Trapsin - who ever had it will have to re-spec. I am also concern about Furysin - it been forced onto pumping useless blade sentinel and blade shield (but we shall see if end-result worth it)

The hammerdin is just fine without holy bolt. Just get a nice tanky merc with an ethereal Insight (what i’m running) and he takes out 2nd wave without an issue. I tried the old holy bolt approach and it just felt like wasted points because the merc can take them out just fine.

The trap assasin won’t HAVE to respec. If at end game they already have their full synergy. They just have Death Sentry as well which is not useless (many use it to supplement the lightning traps anyway). If anything you are now free to respec out of those into something else you may find useful, giving you even more flexibility.

yeah… but with bolt is was sooooo much faster lol on other hand I can always reduce points in HS and ad them to HB lol
As for Sin … well you have to get to end-game anyhow (same goes to Javazone that been nerfed to oblivion)

Well I think Baal might be 1/17 or something, also baal doesn’t always drop 6 items it’s 3-6 drops (I think), so I think you can “expect” an essence with 6 baal kills, and that does seem to check out with my baal kills at least (idk if I’m lucky or unlucky). Who knows. All I know is, respecs are fine. We will all survive the patch.
