Requesting player opinion on the Delirum runeword

Ok… as in thread…
right now this runeword serves almost no purpose, only weaksauce druid players use it if thay can’t afford a ravenlore, metamorphosis, +3/+3 pelt, or +3/20%FCR circlet…

i think this is a dull way of utilizing the delirium runeword, as the whole runeword theme is not to stay away from delirium form but rather to proc it, and own everything when it does…

the problem with delirium form is that it doesn’t allow to cast spells or skills for player classes…

however a3 merc woud benefit from this runeword greatly, the problem the runeword has right now, is that some time in the past plyers kept whinig about the delirium form duration that they couldn’t get out of, so blizz botched the skill the runeword utilizes to only last for 60 seconds…

Considering how rare it is to trigger the delirium form the duration is too short… it’s 1500 frames exactly so at 25 frames per second it’s 60 seconds ( yet framerate is uncapped in multiplayer, so it’s even less than 60 seconds).

My proposal is to pump the duration by a factor of 10 to 15’000 frames roughly 600 seconds or 10 minutes, this way the runeword does finally become useless for the weaksauce players utilizing it, and starts to become viable for a3 merc…

#1 A3 merc utilizing delirium form does cast his spells
#2 A3 merc in delirium form, has huge boost to his FCR frames ( he starts out on 10 frame attacks and can go up to as high as 6 fpa, depending on weapon speed and IAS on the weapon itself. ( tops out at -30 weapon speed and +10% weapon IAS ),

those fpa values are almost unobtainable for a3 merc in non delirium form, he barely can reach 10fpa @86%FCR and it’s insanely hard to squeeze that into his 4 gear slots, he’s basically locked to 2x spirits and vipermagi without delirium form.

with delirium runeword he only needs an athagan/phase blade with either a shael or 15%IAS jool/ hel/-15%req jool + shael or 15%IAS jool/ or just one -15%req+15%IAS jool, to reach maximum 6fpa attack breakpoint. and that is 4fpa less per attack than what he can reach as maximum otherwise… now this is what i call a proper boost to his attack speed…

Please tel me folks how do you see the future of this runeword, should it stay as it is to benefit weaksauce players with +2 to all skills that lack the brainpower to figure out something better, or should blizz fix the runeword by adding one addtional “0” in the skills.txt under Delirium skill’s duration tab?

Delirium on a1/a2/a5 merc is lowkey pretty good considering mind blast/terror/confuse procs give you so much free cc and the 1% procs often enough from my experience, more fun than anything being in that mode

Otherwise yes, it really isn’t too useful. Even if what you propose with a3 mercs became reality, not sure it does anything to move the needle when a3 mercs need more changes to even begin to see mainstream use…

I’ve never used Delirium in the entire time I’ve played D2. Always felt there were better options like Shako, CoA, Griffons, Arreats, Jalal’s, Andys, Tal Rasha, Guillaume or Gaze(even IK Helm has its uses on A5 due to those 2 Sockets and MF). For Runewords specifically, Dream(not on Merc mind you), Cure, Bulwark, Wisdom, Temper, Ground or Flickering Flame are all better options.

it would still work for a1/a2/a5 mercs as well, only the duration of the delirium proc would last ~10minutes instead of only ~1 minute after proc.

the problem is that the proc is rare and lasts too short, so merc isn’t able to utilise it in full before it wears off… on the other hand if blizz to simply add one zero in skills.txt increasing the number of frames for the delirium to last, from 1’500 to 15’000, it would significantly improove how the runeword performs.
while it is medicore runeword for a1 a2 and a5 merc, since +2 to skills isn’t all that great for them, and they oly provide cc with that, it does not change much for a1 merc since bonefetish form caps out at 6fpa, and a1 merc already can reach 7fpa without delirium, however a3 caps out at 10fpa, and with delirium he is able to reach 6fpa, the cold a3 becomes like insta liquid nitrogen for all mobs around him. especially that you’ll notice all skills he procs proc independant of each other and not in a sequence one after another… this is clearly visible in higher breakpoints on a3 merc, so his attack rate almost quadruples since both of his projectile spells cast independantly and both at almost 2x rate, causing him to be almost a freeze ray… other two a3 variants while they also benefit the same way from boosted delirium, also require some additional gear to shine, especialy some damage gear,
so perfect rainbow facets/ormus robes/+2 chest armor/ spirit shield are a nice addition.

Useless imo you should have max fcr on a druid

you don’t understand do you claymore12?

bonefetish form working on a3 form was sort of hacked in by blizz in d2r it didn’t work at all in D2LoD. in D2LoD a3 merc would just stand like an deadbeat geting pounded if he procced delirium form… in d2r a3 is able to attack… but what a suprise delirium has no FCR frames…?!
so how does a3 mer attack if delirium form forbids casting?!
Simple Blizz made delirium A3 merc casting based off of weapon IAS, and it was prooven by myself by excessive testing in single player where i edited in gear to maintain constant delirium form, and just tested various ways to increase attck speed…and it turns out only weapon speed and IAS on the weapon matter for a3 in delirium form for his casting speed. Players are still unable to cast spells and skills while in that form…

And yes i do think using Delirium runeword on a driud is stupid, yet i heard of some ppl doing it when they can’t afford a +6 pelt or 3/20 circlet.

Act 3 Fire/Enchant merc is however decent when leveling a summoner, once ur army gets enchanted its probably the best dps on a budget with no gear

Thank you for bumping i guess, but please, do not derail this thread more than nessecary…

I rock a 2/20 someone gave me for free
