I don’t know where you’ve been, but this is clearly been the case for decades now.
Ever since the advent of live service games this has been a problem. The first time I recognized it was SWTOR.

Witnessed plenty of launches that were worse than this. But plenty of blizzard launches far better than this.
SC2 for example, no real issues.
This only happens because Gordan Ramsey doesn’t play video games.
Man never lets things go out half baked.
I think old blizz (North) would have done better than the current folk. People don’t realize just how much went into crafting the masterpiece that is D2. The fact they did it 20+ years ago, is amazing. When people say D3 was a disappointment and a failure, it’s because it strayed so far from what made D2 (and D1) so great.
The real problem isn’t with the developers of D2 or D2R, but with the company/corporation they’re beholden to making such poor decisions. So in that way, yes old Blizz (North) would also make the same errors today as Actiblizz is making right now. But that wouldn’t be on Blizzard North. The difference is, they wouldn’t take that type of BS. Hence why none of them are working at Activision.
You can never catch this things in internal tests you have to stress the system in a real world environment which can not be replicated in internal testing.
No matter how long they would have waited and carried on developing internally, they would not have found most of the issues ever.
And this is the beauty of Diablo 2 being an old game. You do not have to rely on online services, you can play it offline as much as you like without any problem and inherently also without any lags which never can be avoided over the internet at all.
I am looking with fear to D4 and actually all future games that rely on “online only” because all of them will have some kind of release problems, why don´t the learn that online only is a very bad thing.
There is plenty of evidence they left a lot out of the title for release as these were major talking points in Resurrected’s release.
yeah this new team of blizzard is horrible.
you have to remember tho… comparing D2r to old D2 is pointless blizz back then only had D2 to focus on before WoW…
Region locking would fix most of our problems on America server, game crashes hard core soon as Asia logs onto America server
Don’t know why wold asians log into american servers … to enjoy high ping and rubberbanding?
I gave up on D2R when I was never able to even install it. I posted about my issue and no one ever commented, but I am a Mac user, so maybe that is part of it. I boot into Windows 10 via Bootcamp, so it’s not like some “fake” set-up. It’s bonafide Windows, but there must be something deep under the hood. I have no clue. But, honestly, let’s see a show of hands of everyone that feels all the money spent on D2R could have gone to making D3 even better – another act, more Cube recipes, more end game stuff, etc. I played D2 for thousands of hours in its heyday. There’s nothing new. I’m not missing anything.
from what i hear they are doing it to get away from their own high Ques… around 5-8am PST alot of Asia language starts showing up and game starts to crash and i get Ques
Well I play on sia server and always have high queues at peak time like 300+
Yet it’s still a “virtual” machine, so no, it’s not “bonafide” Windows.
It doesn’t have direct access to hardware, it goes through a translation/security layer where numerous issues can occur in between handoffs to the hardware itself.
Nothing about Bootcamp is “seamless”, it just isn’t as transparent to you as a user because you never see what’s going on behind the scenes.
Hey, don’t despair. They kept “Soon” for us
Yeah, I am sure you’re right. Pfft.
Makes me worried about D4. Here I was completely confident that I could run D4 just by rebooting into Windows, but now I am worried.
they did its called project diablo 2, amazing mod with no server problems new items and end game content. Very good game, the diablo 2 community and senpai did a great job of making their own game I still play daily.
To be honest, I haven’t played it yet.
I just might, considering the issues here are taking a bit to resolve.
That mantra died the day they merged with Activision.
Is that why we have such a lengthy queue and when you do get past the queue get cannot connect to server? At 10am PST on a Friday? Is that a peak time, or…?
