To be fair, we have this thing called the holiday season.
It comes once a year near the end of it.
Most people with real jobs take time off, spend some good time with their family and friends, and then come back about now to begin anew.
Welcome to the real world.
Pretty sure “soon” is a Blizzards thing.
Activision like to pump out half finish cash grabs ASAP.
“Welcome to the real world.” Please tell me what world I’m in…most people are back at work the Monday after the new year. I worked all week as I’m sure they did as well. I made this thread at the end of the work week…so am I in the real world?
What world are you living in?
Do you guys realize the development teams most likely work in Sprints (Agile methodology), which more often than not are 2 weeks long, which still doesn’t mean release, but just the end of the development work for a certain amount of backlog items?
They announced mid-Dec what was coming, so that’s when backlog items were probably refined or started to be worked on, but you got Christmas and New Year in the middle so pretty empty Sprints with very low velocity. It would be a miracle if we see anything at all this month honestly, plan for February, nothing before. Development takes time, especially large infrastructure ones like setting up a PTR.
Better survivability? Are you joking? Ranged characters never take a single point of damage and do the same runs in a fraction of the time. Summoners can just surround themselves with an army and watch TV without taking a single point of damage.
Melee characters are literally the worst PVM characters in D2 by far, by every metric.
Yeah and one humongous repair bill

Not in Ubers, which is the only endgame.
Viable is a term used when comparing it to something else in this scenario.
Whirlwind Barbarians are trash at all levels of gearing and skill. They may work, and do lots of damage, but every other class in every other build will out-pace a Whirlwind Barbarian for clear speed or utility.
That alone is one major reason why Whirlwind Barbarians are not viable… Those repair bills get insane. Whirlwind needs its durability interaction mechanics modified to be a per-use dent to durability, not a per hit.
Ever worked in the game industry?
Ever had more than a week off?
Ever had paid days off that had to be spent or lose them?
The vast majority of people I know, go back this week.
I don’t go back until after MLK day.
How does that grab ya?
I’ll see what happens.
The result is in by the end of January.
Honestly? Not an issue. I have both superior GriefZ/BeastZ, as well as a superior Enigma. The gold for repair comes in naturally with my full mf/gf set on or if anything I could just do about 20 Travincal runs for 10m gold. It’s only around 320k gold every 15 or so minutes to repair. If I absolutely can’t afford, which is never the case; i’d just use Orts/Rals to repair. Going to be level 99 in two weeks btw. Grief Phase Blades are not an option for my build.
Sounds like you going back after MLK day is the exception…very far from the general rule. Thank you, come again.
