This is first season/time I have ever truly devoted energy and effort to crafting (gloves, boots, amulets, etc.). On both my Java & Bow I managed to get gloves I am more than happy with. I am set with them, but still moving forward since I am already collecting Rals, Pames, Saphs, Orts, etc.. To date I usually craft about once every week or 2 weeks. Usually about 15-20 gloves or something.
This past weekend I did gloves & amulets, and 100% were all sent to Charsi. I did this with my level 90 toon, and after remembered something about character level. But this was something passed by long ago. I am having difficulty accepting this was just bad luck considering this was like 15 gloves & 20+ amulets all wasted complete junk. Usually in a batch I could get a few with skill points, and at least a couple of decent low to mid value at least.
Was this truly RNG, or should I be crafting with a character at a lower level? If so what is the prime CLVL? I remember something like 15 years ago some people had “Crafting characters” and do not remember if that was because of a level restriction or anything, or just convenience.
I have an other problem since yesterday.
I’ve made 70 runs for terror keys….. nothing/ Not a single one. It’s the first time it’s happen in 20 years.
All my craft aren’t very efficient too. Just 3 amu +1 skill and 15/18 fcr not very good. Nothing with 25 gloves crafting. they were very bad craft.
For crafting amulets, I believe you want to be at least clvl 93 for gambling. Gloves, I’m not too sure what the ideal and required levels would be.
But, you can definitely go on a long bad RNG streak, trust me.
If you want to be optimal, it gets complicated. It will depend on type of gloves, item level, character level, desired affixes, max affixes. The best guide I ever found was SuperDave’s.

TLDR:
Gamble and craft chain gloves at level 69. Braces/vambraces at level 79.
Just adding that 15 to 20 crafts isn’t a lot in this game. With RNG it can take a lot more than that. I think I did around 200 or so for my hit power gloves - and they’re not perfect or anything. You’ll get some alright ones along the way, but it can take a long time to get the ones you really want.
So I had done multiple ‘sessions’ where I was rolling 15-20 crafts, and each ‘session’ I would get something, mostly all Charsi food. That something would be for example gloves that had skills. Maybe it was a low end like +1 to Jav and worse stats like +1 to Strength. But out of the lot I would usually get several rolls that were at least close to the target.
What stood out for me was this last session I did about 15-20 rolls for gloves, and not a single one had any skill for a class. That stood out from the expectation I had from previous sessions. Then I switched from gloves to amulets, and same thing. Not a single amulet with any class skill which really made me think. The week before out of maybe 20+ rolls maybe 70+ had some skill, mostly garbage like +1 with 5% FCR or similar. What got me thinking was maybe the clvl is what affected the affix for adding class skill.
Thanks for the link, this may be just what I was in need of. And a LOL that my old Ingamers account still works for that site some 20+ years later.
In the article I may have my answer:
…use the proper lvl character to do the crafting…too low and the mods you want cannot spawn
This may be why I got what I got. I can’t look at the moment but both my Java & Bowazon have gloves that I am more than happy with. I go back in memory to 2005-2010 era and remember something people having toons just for crafting probably for this reason. I probably even saw this thread back in the day but ignored it.
