Question about what's allowed in character names in D2/D2R

and how can I change the name since I got flagged ??

:skull::skull_and_crossbones:

Welcome back dead thread

Dude check dates on threads before posting in them lol. You’re replying to a 4+ year old post.

well since it’s already necroed i was thinking..

.. why such names as KnockedupPoossy for female chars is allowed along with Babymaker, DWF_Knight or Impregnator for the Paladin, and ‘Ol barb can’t be simply named Ron Jeremy FFS Blizz this isn’t a game for children in kindergardens.. it’s for mature audience.. so please Let this mature audience have full freedom in naming their characters.. and FFS turn of that profanity filter already, sometimes other players don’t get what i wrote since it is all turned into ASCII special symbols due to those filters.. this is hilarious to not be able to have comunication ‘on the level’ with other players.. Diablo 2 is not a game for kiddies, Diablo 4 is a game designed for them so keep your irondome protection mechanisms in Diablo 4, Diablo 2 players need to have thick skin anyways, as scamers griefers and all other cancer of this game is awaiting for you around every corner, so either One’ll be prepared or One gets a steady stream of mental traumas..

probably just because nobody’s reported them yet. Report it.

Kind of funny and ironic, and I will once again bring up the fact that THIS 25 year old game which is probably played by a lot of old timers certainly still has Age Verification to come to these forums and post.

Meanwhile D4 does not, lets face it, that is a game fit for 14 year old ADHD kiddies who need to spaz out on the FX vomit from Infernal Hordes.

With that said, there should be a little bit of fun, but also limit that can be offensive. I do not want a game to cater to the racist types, but also think naming a Barb “Ron Jer***” was kind of funny and should be allowed.

well let’s face it ol Ron was a meme character in the industry anyways.. up to the point where female actors refused to participate in filming when they found out that Ron would be the male actor XD..

on top of him being less than 6’ tall with male pattern baldness, and a rug on his chest, makes him sort of iconic, that a man beaten so hard by life could still succeed in such a biusness.. makes me pitty him a bit, not to mention other game i like to play besides Diablo series does sort of mention him in a way..

A game being rated “mature” doesn’t mean its fine to allow immature (inappropriate) names. It isn’t about harming children, it’s about being offensive.

i don’t find a character called Ron Jeremy to be offensive.. on the contrary to the others i posted all were tested by myself and i was able to create all of the mentioned besides Ron Jeremy if at all Ron seemes the least offensive.. and actually has a story behind it not something purely evil offensive or obnoxious but rather a plain man’s name of a person that you’d pitty a bit once you’d know his history..

while all of the other mentioned names are non-arguably immature cause they are i agree.. yer Ron is rather a mixed feeling cause from one side ppl dislike him for his proffesion others admire his success “aginst all odds” while others pitty him for having so hard during his career.. like imagine yourself when a coworker says: “No I’m not going to work with you You’re disgusting” when at the same time Your employer only expects effects from you and doesn’t really cares how you look..

Ron was not really a famous actor but rather his life was sort of a tragedy.. similarily to what the Joker film was about the tragedy of an sub-average man, that could literally happen to anyone, though in the end Ron didn’t end up as a mastermind villain, or otherwise a criminal..

all in all i don’t find Ron Jeremy to be offensive so i have no idea why as his name blocked yet other childish and offensive names pass checks during character creation (personally tested)..

Names that don’t appear to be offensive can contain character sequences within them that are. Now, I’m honestly not sure what is tripping the filter with this name. But it’s tripping the filter somehow. Probably with a deformation of something that’s actually offensive. Filters often contain many mispellings of a word that people would try to use to get around the filter. Like a three letter variation of the F bomb, for example.

My nick used in most games outside of battle.net comes from a Final Fantasy character. That character name itself funnily enough can’t be used in either of the online Final Fantasy games and some but not all other games block it as well, forcing me to spell it differently, because the middle of the name contains 4 letters that refer to a certain body organ.

yeah.. i get you..

But what’s triggering in Ron Jeremybesides the fact that said person was a pretty hilarious/horrible male actor of “naked couples” type of films and of an era long-gone-by, shouldn’t really exclude this name from possible character names.. this man’s history seemes so “derailed” that in itself should be allowed as a possible character name, because it’s memic same way as Conan or other memic names..

I can’t really say because I’m not too famliar with it. I don’t see any obvious swears or slang for swears but basically what it comes down to is the game uses a word list that is likely shared between many devleopers at many studios and it saw something in that name that made it go “nope” …. but I can’t tell you what it is. Often it’s something stupid that doesn’t make sense to all but a select few people.

(I’d tell you what the name I’m referencing is, but I had to change my battletag due to someone who didn’t like me from another game recognizing me in Overwatch and throwing my games- so I don’t want to mention it in the unlikely event that person is on these forums (which i doubt but I want to play it safe)
