I disagree about melee being screwed in pd2. I recently built a zealot who is using an eth oath conquest sword. With the built in melee splash damage, he is quickly killing everything. The built in melee splash damage makes characters like zealots and frenzy barbs extra deadly.

Not really, because everything else regarding melee was nerfed into the ground. The range of skills, the damage of skills, the amount of targets during an attack – basically every possible mechanic regarding every possible melee skill was nerfed into the ground. Allowing melee splash doesn’t account for all that other damage.
The funny thing is that casters can now do everything in the game too, including ubers and d clone, and they’re even better at clearing mobs than they are in D2.

Would encourage people to actually play together (how blizzard intended it to be, not only for exp runs and rush/getting rushed) with the (hopefully soon™) changed lootsystem whatever it is.
This is so true. I don’t play PD2 or D2R (waiting for ladder) at the moment, but I was discussing how Lost Ark feels to a friend who hasn’t played it. I found it odd that an MMO felt like a solo player game and was using D2 as an analogy. You might play together with someone to level up at the start and then that’s it. Maybe grind some baal waves but generally I don’t hit my friends up to do baal runs. It’s boring. D2 has no reasons to really play with each other but it easily could…
Looking back at PD2, I actually reached out to friends often to clear maps with me and it was extremely enjoyable. Sometimes we would split loot and other times split the map. Either way, this kinda stuff really isn’t possible with the garbage loot (such as occy after week 2) and meph runs.
I wish PD2 had the graphics, because I’d be all over it. The 30 or 60 FPS starts to give me a headache though with the entire background stuttering when you move
Yeah I am currently playing Path of Diablo again and mapping with bowzon. Imagine you could run a big D group with a bo/dmg barb, a summon druid, a necro for cursing and the rest can be wild, that would be hella fun. But NOPE everyone is playing solo, cause you don’t want people in your group doing nothing else, but scouting for runes/valueable uniques to ninja them…
Lol sorry, but D2R is alot cleaner and the new quick casting system puts it above and beyond Project Diablo.

nice 1month necro
Absolutely. I aint played D2R for months. Went back to PD2 but breaking from the game in general.
there are positives and negatives to both versions of the game.
PD2
more build diversity
more end game content
better leveling
better itemization over all
better drop rates
better items system (stack-able consumables)
far better community
broader crafting/rare item range
Better Dclone spawning requirement
Better trading
better bot control
never had a game cue
Far better game lobby
no load time
lower system requirements.
D2R
The original, slightly better feel in play through
better Uber setup
Better, more fitting Dclone fight
Hasn’t nerfed builds for the sake of nerfing them
more reliable servers (when there is no cue)
In the opinion of some better graphics
In the opinion of some, some builds/skills are better.
No major unfair advantage via loot filters.
Hasn’t nerf’d things that are part of the game to the point they no longer do what they were designed to do… CB for example
All that said, I play both. D2R with the goal of a fully geared char in the level 93-95 range. PD2 I target level 99. Overall PD2 is more complete and over all better but they are both fun and worth the time.
Posting on the D2R forums about how much better PD2 is… WHY? Go play PD2 if it is soo much better. Why would you take play time away from that game that you obviously love so much, just to come here and attempt to trash the D2R devs? And for the guy that tried saying that 100s worked on D2R… that’s cute but absolutely NOT the case. The remaster hasn’t even been out a year yet, give it some time to see where it evolves to. They have shown that they are up to making changes. Maybe you should try making suggestions instead of trashing the devs. And try not to get butt hurt when they make one change that you like instead of the 47 that you suggested…
Ehh all those p-servers ruin Teleport. I like to teleport. Thus I don’t care for them. The entire design philosophy of those p-servers is “I’m jealous that X class can do this, so either I want the exact same thing, or I want it nerfed.”
It’s like they are designed by the average D2R forum goer that cries about stuff all day long.
The way I see classes in D2… is it’s pick your own difficulty. If you want some easy chill time, hop on a Pally/Sorc/Zon/Trapper. If you want something in the mid range go play some Druid/Necro/gear a Bowa. If you want to suffer go play Physical-Spearazon/MA/Barb. If you just feel like doing something weird for the sake of doing it, do it… it doesn’t NEED to be viable.
The moment EVERYTHING is good… nothing is good… and everything starts feeling the same real quick.
That mod is ran by cultist, that are power hungry to control their mod. I left that crap soon as they started banning people for 0 explanation and just beg for money. PD2 has like 3k players, D2R had 300k CONCURRENT, so stop acting like there is some large group of players wanting PD2.
I would go with path of diablo over project diablo. more fun and chill, and for the opposite - why not just play path of exile.
I do LOVE the idea that they actually started doing something about endgame content, and while it does not compete yet - it is literally the first step they made. Im certain they need to see if there arent complaints from the fans and its a ladder launch, makes all the sense to at least give original game ladder at least once before moving forward…
Yea pod and pd and poe are better at alot of things, but this is just the start, and d2r is frikin stunning visually… if you bought d2r at default state, why would you complain now?
I feel like you what you’re talking about is MMO mechanics.
I won’t play PD because they nerfed Enigma and Infinity, but otherwise an interesting project.

You get pushed in the direction of P2W or forced to group. It completely eliminates solo play to endgame.
That’s probably only true for noobs. The game is waaaay easier now than it used to be 20years ago and continues to be made easier.
Group play only helps weaker characters clear content faster and gain XP quicker. Every class can complete HC SSF - it’s just more difficult and grindy that way.
Then go play Project Diablo 2 then .
Yeah the mod servers hatred of teleport is the primary reason I couldn’t stand them. Well that and I hated the maps. Bored me to tears.
Frankly if I’m going to walk everywhere… there other other ARPG’s I’d prefer to play. Like Grim Dawn for example.
It’s actually kinda sad to see a mod community make something better than a billion dollar corporation.
For once in my life i tried a mod, i can say it was a terrible experience. Got it completely ruined by a dishonest and unscrupulous PD2 moderator, the guy just didnt care at all. Horrible experience. I for sure wouldnt recommend it. Atleast got comforted in the idea to keep staying on the official game as always. Always safer, in any cases.
And once more this moderator doesnt deserve better than spits.
art.damage was the name on discord, you’d better fall on another one if you someday have a serious problem
