I and a team are currently working on a large project Diablo 2 / reimagined mod for Diablo 2r. However, obstacles are put in our way because we do not have tcip/ip gateway support. Would it be possible for you to become a little more player-friendly like before and go into yourself and make the Diablo scene happy?
Our mod is intended to start as an online multiplayer season and includes new endgame content, maps t1-t20, more bosses, uber bosses, corrupted zones in addition to terror zones, trade hub like auction house, mercenarie updates and up to 100 skill upgrades and possibilities.
That would be several hundred hours of fun and content for all fans

You’d have better luck turning lead into gold with a snap of your fingers versus Blizzard opening up TCP/IP on this game. Your best bet is to either mod the original game, or take the leap and write a new game from the ground up.
better search for D2RLan as it enables tcp/ip LAN party capability for D2R patch 2.4 if you want to be able to set different server gateway adress it’s just a matter of setting the correct commandline parameters to run the game, however You’d have to have full blown D2R server running someplace, not only i know of no existing software to setup your own D2R server, but also if blizz found out, you’d be in huuuge trouble, by being swarmed with lawsuits…
anyhow if You do have a D2R server running somewhere You’d knew that connecting to it is a bit different than original d2 you need to specify a -username and -password for access and also -Adress where it is either an server ip or full internet adress by domain name… those things are enaugh to launch the game from a windows shortcut totally bypassing battlenet app which usually auto sets those parameters. so it’s rather a matter of telling your users to run from a shortcut rather than going through blizz’s battlenet app… Yeah getting the server software to set up everything is a harder nut to crack than what i already explained, so better focus yourself on that first, as what you ask for is not a problem at all… yet don’t expect blizz to officially support your server You’d rather get supressed…
