Thats the most silly thing I read in weeks and theres a lot of competition.
Definitely, I can’t for the life of me understand why people would be against having it as an ‘option’ 99% of people would prefer to use it since it will make gameplay fair between old and new toggle.
Let’s keep bumping this so blizzard sees that is a MUST have feature.
Also this is a great option for people who don’t enjoy the new graphics but want to play with a botting free / dupe free + huge player base environment.
I plan on playing with legacy graphics since my computer is near the minimum system requirements. I do not want all the skipping and missed frames etc.
NO, I’d like my hardware to work correctly
They could simple add this as an OPTIONAL SETTING. So the toxic purists would also be happy.
And wouldn’t you like to have an even playing field with all the other players using the new graphics?
It’s totally unfair and should not be overlooked that some people really do want to play the game in the old graphics.
IF Blizzard were to release a ‘lite’ version of D2:R without the new graphics overlay, I’d be on board with wide screen support for legacy graphics.
I personally think they should make a lite version, because of the sheer volume of people who are probably still using older computers to play the original game.
I would really love to se a lite version with the old graphics in 16:9 and lower system specs.
My old notebook is definitely not going to cut it, but buying a new laptop just to be able to play D2:R when I am on the go seems a bit wasteful in terms of money and resources
Don’t really see the point of this, just add the 16:9 option in legacy and that is fine lol
Why can’t you be onboard with it for the current version of the game?
It’s not happening otherwise.
What’s the sense of having to download an extra ~18 gigabytes of graphic data if your system is unable to reliably play that mode?
From the few reports I’ve seen of older systems that tried playing the Alpha which aren’t capable of playing with the enhanced graphic overlay, but should be able to play the legacy mode can’t do anything because the main menus are now 3D rendered. The menu should not be a roadblock in playing with legacy graphics.
This is why I think it would be a good move for Blizzard to make a lite version, that way players with old and newer systems can play Diablo 2 on the new Battle.net platform.
Well that Is all good and well, but It’s very unlikely going to happen. For older PCs there Is still D2LOD Classic.
If you have such a PC that It can’t even run the menus properly in 2021, then maybe you should consider upgrading.
Having said that, not everyone wants to play on legacy graphics because their PC can’t run the newer graphics, some would just prefer to play on legacy either way.
That’s why we need a 16:9 resolution to D2R legacy toggle (because let’s face It, that’s the only realistic option that could happen).
Blizz Isn’t going to release a lite version of the game, there isn’t demand for it and there Is always the original D2 for that exact purpose (though I’m not against a lite version, but It’s just not going to happen).
I consider D2:R to be a final “polishing” of the original game to keep it running on modern systems. Outside of keeping the game running, there’s probably not going to be any major changes.
The original game has had a fantastic run, but its time is running out. It is hanging by a thread, which sooner or later that thread is going to snap. They’ve likely ran out of options to do anything further to keep the game running on todays and future systems, which is likely why they decided to create D2:R.
Alienating those who have slower systems that can play the original game (on Windows 10) would not be a good move.
The biggest reason I think legacy should stay at 4:3 with the enhanced graphics version is simply to compare and contrast… “This is how it was”.
But as I said, if they make a ‘lite’ version, I’d be fine with 16:9 support for the lite version.
That’s not much of a reason not to have 16:9 for legacy toggle lol.
They can always make It 4:3 by default and have the 16:9 resolution as an option (like on all modern diablo2 mods).
It’s pretty stupid in my opinion at least that the official remaster wouldn’t have the widescreen as an option when all the bigger diablo2 mods are running It already.
PS. If any devs/higher ups are looking through these forum posts, the resolution the most popular d2 mods servers are using for widescreen in diablo2 Is: 1068x600
I don’t understand why you’re against having 16:9 support as optional when there are LITERALLY no cons to doing this.
It is necessary if we want the original game preserved. If we end up disliking the art / animations down the line we should have the option to switch to legacy and not be handicapped playing with other players.
This is literally a no brainer. why you are even arguing against this is beyond me.
Because no one new to the game would use 4:3. They wouldn’t see how the game used to be played. That’s my point.
I don’t understand what you’re getting at AT ALL.
The default legacy toggle is at 4:3
What we are requesting is giving the toggle mode an OPTION to have 16:9 resolution (1068x600).
What does this have to do with no-one seeing 4:3
if any reason against, i think technical issues would be the only reason not to implement legacy widescreen but as said already, mods have proven that its possible.
