That is what I meant. Probably should have been a bit clearer. I meant get around as in not have to redo code to fix the glitch, but just set a level requirement for Baal quest in multiplayer. Sorry if I wasn’t clear.
This would be possible before launch, yes.
Just take the function from arreat and put it into baal (Edit: For sure the check of clvl)
Some of us already have a rush build to blast through the initial content anyway. And there will always be rushes. If people want to rush, people will find a way. That’s why each time they tried to fix it, a new work around was found.
I have a side of me that wants it to stay because it’s been like that for awhile, but when you think about it Norm Ancients(20), Nightmare Ancients(40), Hell Ancients(60) should be done during the appropriate level necessary to complete Ancients. So, I’m almost leaning that they fix GRush based on the level necessary to do Ancients for each difficulty. Just makes more sense! As far as the converting to Expansion to bypass Ancients then they need to make it to where if you’re not the appropriate level for Ancients to be done then they restrict access to the Worldstone Keep, Throne of Destruction, and the Worldstone Chamber until you have completed each Ancients at their appropriate level.
Nah, I don’t think there is any “workaround” if the server code checks for character levels.
Nobody has a probleme with a 200 fcr caster, porting and rushing.
Ain’t nothing wrong with a little bump and grind.
Harder to work around a hard set level requirement to complete Baal Quest (Or Diablo Quest in Classic). It would also help keep people dispersed between the opening two difficulties and keep leveling runs open.
People can still do Trist-Runs (just with lower character) There will be different builds because maybe you just build a Tomb-Runner? The char has to be low so the party get’s enough xp.
Will be interesting! Well, finally a good thread about something important.
It would greatly (positively) influence the whole game and player base. Because people will actually play a great game. And it is fun to play this game, regardless the level or stage.
What happens, if this doesn’t get fixed, is the same as we’ve seen before. Almost no public games after a few weeks, everybody gets rushed in private runs.
What’s the point to being level 80 in 15 minutes if
- you don’t have gear
- you don’t know how to play, since your actions have thus far consisted of Mario-like acrobatics
- you don’t care about the ladder/advantage because you just want to get to your “endgame” (whatever that means to you - maybe its just to run grinds nonstop.)
and/or
- you do know how to play, and have gear waiting in your stash, but couldn’t be mule enough to do it yourself - hence, a lazy player not much higher than a bot
I dunno. Its kinda cool such a thing exists for those weird times when none of the above count/matter… but also not so great but it seems to only apply to people who want to compete. Solo players won’t notice. People who have different goals may not…
Maybe effort is not worth it. But, glitches are glitches and when they can be fixed, they should be. This sounds like its a dev glitch, on purpose, for testing purposes though I’d imagine it would’ve been easier to just have a character editor.
I agree this bug should definitely be fixed.
It hasn’t been like that for 20 years.
Oooohhhh…. You mean I get to baalglitch in nightmare forever with just 1 char?
Yes please!
No but seriously, I wouldn’t care that much if they fixed this. So long as they don’t touch classic rush I’m good.
Can some @moderator send this topic to a dev?
Yeah, bug fixing is probably the most important thing about D2R to me. Previously, it was art but I think the bug fixing is top priority. That said, the weapon swap glitch is not a bug anymore since it was taken out of the game but then put back in intentionally. Every other bug should be fixed, including this one.
People need to give a ton of “hearts” I guess and keep a topic “prominent” to have a shot it actually makes word.
Nah. I like to grush for loot.
People could still Crush then since they get to bypass act 5. Imo they should leave it alone.
Even if there is a classic skip, newer players will be able to play the experience of LoD when they play LoD, without being tempted into rush culture. People complain about leeches, this funnels into more leech friendly territory. OG devs tried to stop the exploits, but failed. Might be time to actually fix that.
You guys and your god damn opinions. There are ZERO reasons to remove Grush as long as Crush still exists. And they have said that Crush still will be a thing. And why the f does it matter to you if other people use an alternate way to level their alts? If your gonna Grush/Crush you’ll need a friend or pay for a service for someone to chaos run you anyway.
You want to remove regular rushing aswell? Keep sucking everything fun out of the game. Funny thing is it will only hurt yourself to remove it, doubt anyone enjoys walking through all difficulties like a SP andy with every char they want to create.
Smaller, non-game-breaking exploits: Gallerani and Fergusson said that they wanted to preserve things that impacted the flavor of Diablo 2, as long as those exploits weren’t being used for things like item duplication. If you knew exactly where to stand in a certain boss fight where the boss couldn’t manage to hit you, that’ll still work in this game. You’ll still be able to play a character in Classic mode and then switch to Lord of Destruction to skip part of the game. Speedrunners rejoice.
