Are you really going to judge a person based on a couple sentences they posted on the internet?
I happen to know I am indeed fun at parties, since I was a performer at a music party dressed as a pirate playing Bosun Bill on the hurdy-gurdy. The other people there seemed to enjoy it, but what do I know?
I wasn’t aware that posting accurate information made people “unfun at parties.” but again, what do I know?
It’s not a half-truth nor is it "rooted in falsehoods. Nor am I trolling. I’m Cisco CCNA trained, and IP6 was a huge part of the cirriculum- the goal is to eventually switch over to it entirely, it’s just been going very slowly.
I’m well aware of private address space and that was made clear in my previous posts. It isn’t an immediate problem, but it will eventually be. There’s no good reason for us to be using an outdated standard that may or may not be inadequate in the future when we can use a standard that is all but guaranteed to never have that issue in the first place.
The whole discussion about private address space ignores the fact that it is a literal band-aid solution to the finite addresses problem. There aren’t enough addresses for every device on the planet, so private address ranges and NAT were implementeed to imitgate this issue. I.e. It is a mitigation to an actual issue that does exist. Why should we not use a system that doesn’t have the issue in the first place?
This isn’t a problem, i’m not sure why you keep bringing it up. And if everyone and everything was using IP 6, you wouldn’t need a dedicated anything because everyone is using the same system.
This just isn’t really needed that much today outside of an actual LAN, and not even then. Warcraft III Reforged even managed to retain LAN support. But you don’t need to manually enter IP addresses, you just create a game and it’s broadcast across the local network and can be seen by other clients without entering an addresss. And Diablo II also had open battle.net, which was more than sufficient for many people.
And again: IP6 is backwards compatible- every IP4 address has an equivalent IP6 address and this can be handled automatically.
I realize you’re speaking just in the context of D2R and being a gamer. But I’m speaking of the broader picture. And I’m really tired of being branded a “troll” for speaking honestly about a topic I care about. A troll doesn’t care about the topics they discuss, and are only there to cause controversy. I’m sorry that you feel that way, but that’s not why I’m here.
Going to micro-manage the difference between 128kb and 10MB in a response where it’s entirely pointless to do so?
It’s sufficient.
I suppose it’s sufficient in an environment where most people are entirely unaware of how things once were, but perosnally I find that people take such loose statements as gospel often. Is it really such a big deal to correct inaccuracies? Why is that so offensive?
More accuracy is always better than less accuracy. At least in my opinion. And it has very little bearing on how fun I might be in a real life social gathering.
I mean, I’m sorry, it really wasn’t the intention to upset you, just if I have the ability to be precise, I’m going to be precise. And maybe throw in a smidge of related trivia, becuase heck, I thought it was fun… But I guess I don’t know what fun is (maybe that explains why I play this game? IDK)
As long as you can recognize that what you did is one step removed from chiming in when someone makes a post with incorrect grammar or punctuation.
Just need to be sure you don’t use inaccurate grammar to prove a point.
As long we both recognize this, we’ll get along fine.
I never said I don’t make mistakes.
That’s not what we’re discussing.
Well, you brought up the grammar correction thing. It doesn’t really bother me that much, if I did something incorrectly, I really don’t mind someone telling me how it should be (in a polite, civilized manner).
But yes, I do recognize the similarity of the circumstances.
On a personal level, grammar errors itself don’t bother me, as long as the information is sound. Accuracy of information is more important to me than some typos or an incorrectly structured sentence- I can look past that sort of thing.
We all have our hang ups, okay?
Edit 2: see, I just made one. lol… “grammar errors itself doesn’t bother me…” How can I be critical of that when I can’t get it right myself

Please bring back this feature in some way to play offline characters with friends etc.

Yes, that would be fantastic. I miss being able to play with my brother on any player count and with very little latency.

If anything it seems like offline multiplayer is a huge miss for the Switch version of the game especially. I know this isn’t the specifically the console community forum, but I’ve been anxiously waiting to hear an announcement for the addition of a local “offline” multiplayer mode for the Switch since the game launched.
Like what they did with Diablo 3 on the Switch (the other console versions of it as well I suppose) with split/shared screen or adhoc local multiplayer. It seems a bit silly to need to go through battle.net to play with someone sitting five feet away from you.

I want TCP IP so bad as well… Would like to LAN party with my brother and play my single player characters on a direct connection

I would 100% buy an extra copy of D2R, so I could do self boost, if TCP/IP were there.
Also kept a few of my irl friends away from buying the game, since they decided not to include this feature.
Imo it would be a huge addition to game.

TCP/IP would sure be nice with all the server instability going on for the last few days, then I could just play a little LAN action with my brother and friends instead of struggling through the lag on ladder.

Here we are once again where TCP/IP would’ve been a nice option with the D2R servers being down today…

How many bumps could a good bump bump if good bump would bump bumps that bump the bump? Inquiring minds want to know.
In all seriousness… Please, please, please, add IPv4 TCP/IP to off-line D2R. There is no threat to b net platform. If anyone can product factual evidence stating that there is, it would only prove that there are known weaknesses in the b net platform to which our personal, banking, and credit card information is attached. It would make removing those theoretical weaknesses a priority.
Come on devs and dev management. Make it happen already. IPv4 TCP/IP.

Maybe you can help me? Just learning at level 19. I’m having trouble activating a level 18 Shadow Warrior from my Assassin advancing down the “Shadow” column. The “Trap” column merges over to “Shadow warrior.” Surely I don’t have to complete the “Trap” to achieve Shadow Warrior?
Would be so nice to play with my brother without lag and the option to play mods with him.
Absolutely. I picked up D2R so that I could use it as a therapy tool for a friend who suffered brain damage from COVID and is dealing with long COVID. It would be so much simpler to go to his place and play on LAN than to contend with b net and its problems. So yeah… games and their mechanics as brain stimulation.
