PezRadar leaves Blizzard after November 19th

I was a bit surprised to see this this morning. Thanks for all the info you gave us Pez, even if the communication was spotty at best. :face_with_tongue: I hope things go well for you beyond Blizzard.

Having said that, there goes the last line of communication for D2R things, not that there’s anything to communicate in the first place. :smiling_face_with_tear: I suppose one of the other Diablo CMs will take over but we’ll see.

Great, the Diablo 2/D2:R community will be totally ignored now. We won’t have anyone to pester, err um I mean remind that Diablo 2 still exists on X. So yeah, be prepared to be forgotten.

Farewell PezRadar, good luck with your future endeavors.

Interesting how he says:

ā€œDiablo has a ton coming up, and I can’t wait to see it all unfold as the franchise heads into its 30th anniversary.ā€

Subtle hint at a D1 remaster?

The first 2 years of D2R’s release was a great experience, and Pez was a big part of that.

GL and farewell sir

Diablo 4 = Diablo bore

Um. We were totally ignored a long time ago. A post or two about resets don’t count. This guy sucked at his job.

Thank you Pez for all you did. And good luck with whatever comes next for you!

Blizzard is literally at it’s lowest point in it’s entire history. Smart to abandon a ship you helped sink.

I see that abandon ship short from facebook when I read these. Many times certain people are told to find a different job before they leave.

rats leaving a sinking ship

Look at what you guys did!

Don’t worry, Raymond the Janitor will keep things running… Maybe.

Raymond needs to add support for Chinese age limits.

I can say due to the complete disregard to communication that he had towards the community, he will not be missed.

The failure that was D4 and the fact the last thing they did to D2R was add the mosaic sin then abandon it….. Failure after failure. Was banned from his twitter for asking questions about d2r, the only thing…. thats where he posts all the updates INSTEAD OF ON THE BLIZZARD PAGE OR HERE! Good riddance! Horrible community manager!

Probably, but not in the level of effort of D2R (full 3d game). I imagine it would be something like the warcraft and starcraft remasters (high-res 2D sprites). Warcraft 1 had a lot of QoL added to it though to make it feel more like their other RTS games, and I’d imagine a D1 remaster wouldn’t fly without some of that (at least the features that DevilutionX has, like better UI in general)

Not to play devil’s advocate here but it’s not like a CM has any input on business or creative decisions from Blizzard. All they handle is communication, marketing, etc. If blizzard management decides not to give a damn about community feedback, that’s on them. There wasn’t much to communicate about D2 when the game isn’t really being actively developed (trust me, it could be much worse than what we got, look at the poor Warcraft III fans)

I wouldn’t be surprised if they used a modified version of the D2:R ā€œoverlay engineā€ for a remaster of D1. Don’t forget, they are part of Microsoft now, they have access to AI tools that can be used to generate the artwork and 3d models. They’ll still have to go through and clean it up.

His position is a public interface between the company suits and the customer, and those positions are always going to get misdirected customer backlash. Along with communicating news and organization of events, the position serves as a feedback conduit, yeah the negativity from trolls sucks, but it’s part of the job.

Yeah, I just don’t see how they would make a D1 resurrected without Rob Gallerani or the og VV team.

So you are most likely right, it would just be a cheap looking game like the WC1 and 2 ā€œremastersā€, which wouldnt do justice to the game at all. But if it had multiplayer features like quests and trading, that alone might be worth something.

There was nothing wrong with the WC/WC2 remasters imo, with the exception of them killing the GOG version. The remasters themselves are fine, those were simple games and got simple remasters to make them look a little nicer on hd screens. Diablo 1 already has multiplayer through devilution X.

What communication lol.

As far as D2:R, would you want him to repeatedly communicate that there’s nothing to communicate? That would get old really quick both for us and him, and for anyone that is on the edge of their seat wanting game updates, it’s basically pouring salt into a wound. :man_shrugging:

Hey guys, here’s an update! Nothing new. Stay tuned for the next update!
