Paladin Hammers are annoying

I started a paladin and worked my way to Blessed Hammer to play the famous hammerdin.

The path of the hammer is absolutely annoying. Sometimes it kills everything and other times I can have my screen full of hammers with little effect.

I’m currently level 22 so I have little experience but it was not fun in Tal Rasha’s tombs or in the arcane sanctuary. I know there is a learning curve with all skills and abilities but this does not feel right at all - or at least right to my play style.

Does this get predictable for casual player with budget gear (aka no telestomp or +15 skills) or is this something that I should give up now? It does not feel good at all.

my friend the hammer is the most complete character in the game, if you know how to handle it you will be the king.
