Cyberpunk was an insanely huge project, that got lost into trying to do too much of everything at once. True, they insulted players by hyping them with smart marketing and dumping an unfinished game on them. Nonetheless, the ambitions as well as the unfinished work done were huge.
D2R is about refreshing graphics for a 20 years old game. They say it’s the same engine under, which is obviously false because we have modern remake-only bugs packed in it. But all in all the scope of the project is much more limited, while blizzard has much more ressources & cash than CD Projekt RED. And where are we now ? $40 poorer and having a 20-years old game that is buggier than ever.
So I’d say the objective difference between both project is that CD Projekt RED tried to do something that was way off their ressources & possibility; While Blizzard just chose not to bother doing it correctly even though they have the ressources to successfully run 20 projects like that in parallel.
(BTW this is not a console discussion at all, but I’m not allowed to post into general discussion because I’m a console player. Go figure.)
