New druid summoner build that rocks

You can help a little by kind of directing your Ravens where you want them. If you summon one on a mob, the flock goes there.

that doesnt change the fact that blind replaces any curse

Druid down here somewhere

While it is true some classes/builds have undeniable advantages over others, this is more about perspectives.

The summon druid is miles better than what it used to be pre 2.4, and he rocks for that. Is it as potent as the top tier builds? No, of course not. Is it completely unplayable? No, far from that too.

less than 1 hour left. Hope to see some other druids out there

Iā€™ve decided to change my build somewhat.
Essentially itā€™s still a Druid summoning build but Iā€™ve experimented enough with the faith bow to know the fanaticism aura is wasted on summons.
Atmaā€™s scarrab also let me know just how powerful Amp dmg is combined with my summons.

To remedy this Iā€™ve decided to ditch the delirium Helm, replace it with a Jallalā€™s mane, put one point into werebear and as a primary weapon use the Brand runeword.
The whole Idea of werebear isnā€™t to actually deal damage along with my summons. The point is to be tanky. Combined with good resists, oak sage and lycanthropy I can stay on the front lines and proc level 14 amp damage when I get hit.

I have not tested it yet but Iā€™m sure itā€™ll work!
I cannot cast fissure in bear form so I thought about putting points into hurricane to deal aditionnal aoe cold dmg. The only thing that bothers me is that hurricane doesnā€™t slow monsters in hell I think? Anyone can confirm this in the coments?

If hurrican cant slow ennemies down I might dump the points into raven I guess. Not sure yet.

But here it is. I fixed my amp damage problem and my dire wolf and Grizzly bear will hit much harder alomg with my merc.
I also get to switch Atmaā€™s scarrab for a Maraā€™s instead .

Besides Hurricane Iā€™m also hesitant about the weapon fory merc.
I could use the pride runeword to boost my summonā€™s dmg further ORā€¦I could farm for an infinity runeword and make.my hurricane and spirit wolves hurt harder by lowering the ennemy cold resist. Iā€™m just not sure which one would provide more dmg.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Sounds like you have some very good changes.

Why is it wasted? Is there any hidden mechanism?

Yes, it does slow most non-cold immune monsters in hell, just the chill length is cut by 75%. If the targets stay in range, they will be perma chilled until they die.

Also, you may consider Armageddon instead. It is much improved in 2.4, and it does physical damage too, which will work better with your constant amp damage.

Ravens will constantly overriding your amp damage with dim vision, unless you redirect them.

Both look great. Infinity will likely win because of the crushing blow.

Thnxs for all the advice!

Concerning fanaticism I havenā€™t looked at the numbers. I simply compared how my summons performed with and without it.
There may be an increase in attack speed but the eye test tells me itā€™s not great and when I look at how quickly I kill monsters I donā€™t see any noticeable increase in clear speed.
Given how expensive farming a faith bow is itā€™s just not worth it if stronger summons is the objective.

Concerning infinity vs pride I think ill just get whichever I can get first, farm the second and then compare.
Same for ravens, if I see they get in the way of amp dmg Iā€™ll put the points in the elemental tree

As for armagedon vs hurricane Iā€™ll test both as well. I think fire immunes are easier to break than cold immunes so thereā€™s that to consider not.to.mention how amp damage makes armageddon hit harder.
That being said Hurricane hits mobs better and slows on top of it so Iā€™ll have to test both.

Anyways thnxs for the tips. Still a lot of testing to do and a lot more farming lol

I disagree. Itā€™s different, but not worse.

Necro advantages
The pet AI is better (except for the ravenā€™s, which is best)
more pets
nerco curses provide versatility

druid advantages
Can replace summons without corpses
Summons and druid seem tougher
pets seem to hit harder.
easier to snipe a ranged mob behind a melee wall
easy to reposition pets by recasting
(I love dropping a grizzly and 5 wolves in the summoners lap)

I noticed no difference in speed.

PS I have been doing an enchant merc, but am going to try a frenzy merc with kingslayer/lawbringer

Shockwave sounds pretty effective at 1 point, and beeing transformed also sounds convenient, but isnā€™t it a no-go as soon as you got an enigma? In OG teleport was inpossible while transformed, i guess itā€™s the same in D2R?

shockwave is great skill. stuns in like 10ā€“15-foot cone. works on most mobs. This posted build is enigma free. However, if you wish to tele stomp I suggest using a controller to more quickly tele shift then stun. In fact, Iā€™d suggest using a controller in general when using a summon druid. works great to resummon your pets and makes dodging/ positioning a lot smoother.

Stacking auras if ineffective. A high amount of % improvement doesnā€™t do much when thereā€™s little actual damage skill stats to improve. Summons deal physical damage, and Amp Damage/Decrepify is always the best way to improve physical damage.

I never max HoW cause your wolfs provide alot of AR anyway so i go with maxing oak more life = longer survival, summon druid was never to be S-Tier level like Hammerdin or Light sorc.

i have level 48summons,my raven are doing 5k damage eachx5 =25k. The bear +8wolfs dont even do 1/10 the ravens damage even with beast lvl20fanast+might+pride perf lvl31conc,i wont even add a single skills into them if they dont synegery to raven due to fact of their stupid wondering around/stuck/slow moving/ my merc +ravens+psn creeper kill most by time they reach or detect fights unless i telestomp, the animals are summon to be my meatshields only and they prove best at that only since even my lvl 48 spirit die in 2-4hits and psn creeper in 2-3hits when i telestomping everything in 1p game

ravens are the main damager dealers.the animals are only there to be meatshields, let me prove to u in game how my ravens do 25k

How did you reach level 48?
Highest I have is 46 if I leave space for tomes and a torch in my inventory

yes at lvl 90 there are 12 points into ravens. can put 8 more in to max it at 98 then have 1 free point for something else at 99

Tested lots of different variations of summon druid. Conclusion is i think Pride is overrated what i found to work best in all areas is Reaperā€™s Toll act 2 might merc. With reapers u wont need any other way of dealing with phys immunes and the reduced def from decrep is in my opinion better than conc aura from pride. Oh and dont waste ur money on beast it really dont make much of a difference since it doesnt work on ravens better have more +skills

yes i came to almost the same conclusion but I found the act 1 mercs abilities were slightly more usable for more content.

this is one of the many reasons I prefer the act 1. the inner sight helps all your pets and yourself, and the mercs ability to fire over everything to always hit targets made her more useful overall
