Farm tokens? What the heck are tokens? Last I checked she only gives respec once after you complete the Den of Evil, if I recall right.

Essences were added in patch 1.13 and only drop in Hell difficulty. They drop fairly frequently and a boss can drop multiple essences at the same time.
I’ve become okay with respecs, but they did a lot of damage to the economy in a number of ways.
Things that once had value, lost a great deal of that value, and that was a huge downside when they added respecs.
Still, I’m indifferent. I liked the game without respecs, I like it with respecs. I do wish they had thought more about the ways it influenced the item economy before implementing it, though.
Mmmm I can’t wait to increase the number of cookie cutter min/max builds I see by 1000% with all these wonderful respec chances.

Part of the joy of making a choice, that may not be ideal or efficient, is that you get to fully explore all the possible playstyles available. With shared stash, near infinite respecs are even more redundant as it becomes super easy to roll a new character and slap some gear on him/her.
The gold respec would be neat, but I’d have a prerequisite. It’d have to be something like, 1 level 90 character, or 5 level 50 characters. Something like that, before the option even unlocks.
For the D2: R LoD side this should not be implemented because you can already have respecs from the Token of Absolution. For the D2: R Classic side this would be a good idea to be implemented because you can only have the 3 respecs from the Den of Evil Quest. Also, if they didn’t do gold for the respec in D2: R Classic they could make it to where Twisted Essence of Suffering(Andariel/Duriel), Charged Essence of Hatred (Mephisto), and Burning Essence of Terror (Diablo) could make a Token of Absolution in D2: R Classic for respecs.
simple fix for this would be for newer players to look up builds and see what sounds like their kind of play style then follow that to get a grasp of how the game works and that build works, then understand how it works by the skills they have followed to choose and learn that way.
I made about 500 characters learning and messing up back in the day. They get 3 free respecs already from Den + 3 skills from it too, so if you ask me, the game is already soft enough.

Put one of each Essence in the Horadric cube and then click on the Transmute button to get a Free Token to reset your stats.
I’m okay with this as long as the drop rate is between 5 and 7%. For each.
I have gotten 3 essence at once from andy. After a while I have just left it on the floor lol.
That’s the thing, with shared stash they will be as common as ramadamalans gift in D3, you will have more than you need a few weeks in.
You get to respec 3 times for free and then you can use tokens of absolution on top of that which you can farm
