Some really interesting stuff here, I’d recommend reading the whole post but the TL;DR at the bottom is:

  • Offline: doing any damage stops Monster Life regeneration for 1 frame
  • Online: doing any damage stops Monster Life regeneration for 8 frames
  • Online: doing any damage at the rate of 8fpa will completely stop Monster Life regeneration
  • This difference can enable some Uber kills Online while being impossible to do Offline
  • This difference is present in all Online game modes, D2R and D2LOD
  • Offline: doing any damage stops Poison Damage for 1 frame
  • Online: doing any damage stops Poison Damage for 8 frames
  • Online: doing any damage at the rate of 8fpa will fully stop friendly Poison Damage

Poison damage is even worse in group play than originally thought, it’s basically completely useless. It’s not stopped for merely 1 frame whenever another source of damage is applied, it’s stopped for 8 frames.

It’s very unlikely to ever be fixed either, the way poison damage works as negative regeneration is pretty hardcoded and would likely be far more effort than Blizz will ever put into D2R again.

Yikes….It just keeps getting worse for poison…

What do you think a reasonable solution could be?

One of the best ideas to fix poison that I’ve heard, was from someone who said once a monster is poisoned, 50% of any other poison damage coming against that target is dealt instantly.

Or what ever number they agree on. 50% might be a little too strong.

I have changed all poison damage to all be 5second duration
This allows enough time to be a tag and move gameplay
Everything is on the same base

Also changed Venom to not provide psn damage anymore but rather %psn damage, it’s the psn mastery

Venom and poison dagger are now swapped since melee doesn’t make sense for necro and venom doesn’t for assassin since she doesn’t have any poison skills

These are pretty cool ideas. I hadn’t considered swapping the skills between those 2 characters.

And for sure duration is the factor that holds poison back. I love the idea of a max duration of 5 seconds.

In this case though, 5 second duration doesn’t help much due to poison damage being prevented for 8 frames after the target takes damage from something else.
You might as well not even attack in multiplayer :confused:

With blizzard blocking tcpip and simply not caring about the game… a player that loves the game and still wanna play it and enjoy it should just ignore the existence of MP and focus on SP modded
