Dear Either,
There is plenty of means to make money on this game and I am a prime example.
I bought this game for switch.
I bought this game for ps5.
I bought this game for pc.
If blizzard charges 20 bucks for qol updates, “new content”, or just item/runeword rework, I would buy.
Minimal effort, maximum profit. Plus, demand is there.
If they spend money developing d4 to sell me d4 content, it would be for naught…
They have already used D2r to sell D4. Why not use D4 to sell D2r content?
Best regards,
Apparently, D2R has sold over 5 million copies by now, and it had a good RIO for Blizzard. Sad to see none of that was really put back into the game’s development, outside of first few seasons worth of changes.
And yes, it has been great and forever appreciated. They have revived the game and it has been great. Of course, we will always crave more content to be added, even if it was to cost extra.
- Expand Act 4
- Additional difficulty
- Rifts
- Transmog/weapon illusions
- Enchant system perhaps?
- Guilds / Guild halls (imagine pseudo WoW playerhousing)
- Act 6 - Corruption of Heaven - even a shorter one to match A4
- Arena
But they have added some new content already that we all really enjoy <3 <3 <3 !
Forever grateful for it! D2R was a fantastic remake overall.
As much as I hate monetization of games, if it was to allow to further development of D2R, I’d support it.
Have bought the game a few times myself
For such a beloved game they could at least allow users to select the version they wish to play
Really is frustrating, and somewhat curious as well, as to why they have not done anything. Even if they cheaply made new act with new creatures, some new maps, and just added a few new items & runewords and such, price it right and people would eat it up.
A new act, even if cheaply done, more limited than what LOD was, could easily fetch $30 and people would buy it up just for getting something new.

Well back in the day as a reward for Diablo 2 success they freakin closed the studio of its creators and moved sequel production to some leftover group of devs from World of Warcraft.
Then did the same thing when D2R turned out as great remaster. Closed a passionate team Vicarius Visions and gave last updates again to some D3 janitor.
Great job wasting such a strong title as Diablo and letting some indie game (PoE) take over hack n slash throne.
This company turned to mess. Got merged with other that makes shooter games so we got Overwatch, got bought out, drama, veteran devs left a sinking ship, leadership constantly changes and now some woman who has no idea about games is in charge.
I wouldn’t pay just for QOL updates. That’s something that should be done anyway. New features/ content / cosmetic items, sure. but fixing things and polish shouldn’t be treated as extras.
Overwatch was originally meant to be an MMO. it got turned into an arena shooter from the leftover assets when the project was cancelled.
