Why am I getting Act 1 items in Act 5?

That’s how the game works… The droppable item pool increases as you progress.
Act 1 items in Normal Act 1…
Act 1 and 2 items in act 2.
Act 1, 2, and 3 items in Act 3.
Act 1,2,3,4 items in Act 4.
Act 1,2,3,4,5 items in Act 5
Normal act 1-5 items + Nightmare Act 1 in Nightmare Act 1
etc.
I wasn’t really getting earlier act items in acts 2, 3 and 4, though, but stuff like light belts and heavy gloves is common in act 5 for some reason.
The earlier stuff drops off in frequency as you progress, but they can still drop.

Yeah, except in act 5, where act 1 stuff drops like 70% of the time.
Luck or selective bias at play most likely, or both.
You start dropping the lowest level exceptional gear in Act 4 normal, but it’s very infrequent.
lol wait till you get to A5 hell, you still get the same stuff …
Related question: Does gem quality follow the game difficulty (N, NM, H), or the Act, or both?
I ask because there are cube recipes that require chipped gems, which aren’t really dropping anymore in Normal Act 4. Will I see more in Nightmare Act 1? Or do I have to go back to Normal Act 1?
Gems lean more towards flawless quality as you progress up to Hell difficulty.
