Loot separate inventory

for god sake just create a separate inventory for loots only so we dont have to use a tiny cube to loot 2 items per time and drop them. its just super annoying for builds to mf with gcs with builds that need them, and so those dont have enough space and gotta use the cube. it gets even worse to mf without space if u not playing in a pc, its just impossible. giving a separate inventory would not only be more enjoyable but would just get some underwhelming builds to be viable to mf. the ones that were already op without gcs would be op with gcs anyway so it really wont matter.

You could always drop some of those charms to make room.

Hence why in my mod I made it so that charms have no effect in the inventory

The only ones that do are:

And you can cube Torch with Annihilus to convert the +1 skill to +10 Oskill of a random class skill of the torch

Charms still drop but as mentioned they don’t work, instead you can add their perk to the torch up to 10 of them

So what used to take your whole inventory can now be condensed into the 1x2 Infernal torch

Note: infernal torch is now gained through act 1 by saving can, its a blank torch made out of the scroll of Inifus, so you can start charming it early.

The Uber Tristram reward is now only the Standard of heroes

But there is now a recipe of the Torch+standard of heroes which adds the usual torch perks on it

The whole idea behind charms is trading inventory space for power/stats. If you are having issues managing inventory space then drop some of those charms. Seriously, D2 is already easy enough I don’t know why people need an absurd amount of charms in their inventory to play the game. PVP I understand but PVM its just dumb to load your inventory full of charms.

And the whole idea was bad to begin with, as it tends to push players to fill their inventories to the limit of what they can tolerate, making their experience worse. It’s one of the rare cases where giving players an option is globally worse for the game.

Don’t worry, Blizzard isn’t going to make the change, but it’s not because the concept of a charm inventory is bad (it isn’t).

How is it a bad idea? It forces players to choose between inventory space or stats. If they gave us a “charm inventory” then it just becomes another equipment slot for players to fill up with no real drawbacks.

If you are having trouble managing your inventory then thats a playet issue. Just because they give you the option to max out your inventory with charms dosnt mean you should especially if it comes at the cost of not being able pick up loot easily.

Like I said the game is easy enough already for most classes. You shouldnt need to fill up your inventory with that many charms to dominate the game unless you are pvping in which case you aren’t looting anyway.

Because some choices push people towards the worse experience. The drawback isn’t one that should be available in games.

It’s not a player issue, it’s a psychology one. Generally speaking, giving the choice : “you can have more power, but at the cost of a worse experience”, almost all players will choose to take it, which is why it shouldn’t be offered in the first place. Here, it’s not even about making the game “easier”, it’s about making it more comfortable to play, as a charm inventory doesn’t necessarily have to be 4x10 to be a positive change. Making it 4x5 or 4x6 would probably be a welcome change for most of the community.

Because of this, sometimes, I feel it would be hilarious if there was a joke merc you could use as a packrat just for this very purpose.

For my amazon, I like to keep scrolls of identify on my belt, as I like to keep an extra javelin in my cube.

Inventory space in a game about farming and picking up items isn’t a utility that should have ever been traded for more player power. Aside from Anni and Torch, charms are overall poorly implemented. For any given build, there’s an amazing set of 9 gcs, from skillers to life + FHR/etc, and vita scs to put under them. It’s very binary and annoying for anyone not doing duels all day every day. A smaller charm inventory, like half the size of the player inventory, would be very welcome. Obviously, this assumes that charms would only be active in a charm inventory.

Asking players to trade the inventory space when it’s a core feature of playing the game at all was always a lofty idea.

The definition of power creep, except for inventory.

This is actually a good argument. Why have charms at all, instead of making, say rings and amulets make up the difference in power. Of course the idea is to trade space for that power, but is it a good one? On paper, perhaps, in practice, debatable.

I think of it as a test of will. It’s hard for our primitive minds to let go of power once we have it, even if that power makes little to no difference for the task at hand.

For PVP? Yeah absolutely load that inventory up with charms!

PVE? What difference does leaving a 4x4 space open in personal inventory make? A whole two seconds faster magic find runs if averaged out over 10 hours? Oh my gosh. I would have found that Shako if I had the inventory fully loaded with extra charms for PVE! I hate this game! The drop rates suck! I’m melting, I’m melting! What a world what a world!
