So it seems like levelling past 85 (and maybe 80) is best done through group Baal runs. Is this correct? What about players that go alone, what are we left with? I’ve ran River of Flame / Chaos Sanctuary, but it literally gives me 1 bar (and this is Hell mode). So that seems inefficient for the time it takes to clear it (which is like 30 mins or more).
Running Act 5 is…not doable for the most part. I spend too much gold reviving my merc, so…yeah
Oh, Frozen Orb / Meter Sorceress.
I just dinged 92 yesterday. Its much, much, much faster in groups but its doable solo.
I personally mostly play solo or with friends. Pub games aren’t my thing.
Just takes a while.
Which is why most build guides end around 85-90.
You can get up to 85 in Nightmare baal runs, without too much pain, if you find a good group.
You can level in Cow games pretty effeciently in hell up until 90ish.
You can level in lv85 zones (Crypts, Masolium, Ancient tunnles, Pits) that have easier monsters but give alot of XP and have a chance to drop some of the best items in the game.
Chaos Sanctuary and Baal are the standard rooms people farm in hell though to get higher level with a group.
I soloed to 89 just by doing Hell Trav, CS, and Cows. Going to get 90 soon.
Hell act 4 can give you good xp till 90, it goes down to about 12% efficient at 94… baal till 95 and then it’s how quickly you can smash all the highest level guys. It’s tedious and mind numbing 95+
One big tip i can give you is start building some defense if you haven’t yet and keep a row or 2 of max juvs around at all time.
Dying at a high level really sets you back, specially if you aren’t in a situation where you can’t easily get your corpse back (trying to do so might even send you in a loop where you’ll lose even more xp).
Specially if you do baal runs even solo investing in a whisps projector or tgod if you’re really feeling cheap is hella worth due to black souls.
I’ve gotten to 90 so far just mfing bosses and areas with Blizz sorc, haven’t done a single hell Baal run except the one to get my title. But I’m pretty sure if xp is all you want, chaos and baal runs are what you want to do.
Hmm. I’ve ran Hell Cows and they don’t even seem to move my XP bar at all.
Go pure blizzard and clear pindle over and over. Not only will you find some good stuff, but you will level. Got my farming sorc from 83-90 doing pretty much just ancient tunnels and pindle. Doing chaos now and it averages 5 minutes a run with pure blizzard.
I’d advise spamming the living crap out of pindle when the server delay goes down to 30 seconds. They are currently actively changing the game creation delay between 30 seconds and a minute. Goes to 30 seconds non peak.
How in Hells name do you do Chaos in 5 mins? It takes me at least 30 mins to clear that??
Getting to 95 or so is very realistic to do solo by farming in high-level areas. The last couple of levels after that however are extremely slow.
You’re likely a bit under-geared though if your CS runs take 30 minutes. They should be closer to 3-4 minutes for classes without Teleport. Note that you shouldn’t spend time on chasing down every single monster. Focus on dealing with boss packs and large clusters and skip the rest.
Yeah, constantly running away from the cold immune mages. Usually kills my merc to the degree of hundreds of thousands of gold for revives.
The mini bosses are easy, it the dang trash beforehand that slows me down.
You are playing a very slow spec first off. Blizzard one shots everything but the cold immunes. Ignore them if they take too long and move to the next spot. Having a good merc is a must to kill deseis. By good I mean an elite insight, at least a non eth duriels or treachery and a Tal mask/crown of thieves or guillaume’s. More than enough to deal with the cold immunes. Meteorb is slow as molasses. Always has been.
Running is your first problem. Teleport is your friend. They won’t chase you far.
Not sure if I have to say this, but holy freeze works on cold immunes. Also, if your merc is underleveled compared to you, take his stuff off and hire a new one that is your level or at least close. You shouldn’t have issues at 85 unless you are really undergeared as far as resistance and fcr.
Merc has a Colossus Voulge with Insight. I can’t switch out the helm until they get to 210 str (they are using Fortitude on the chest). Until then…they arent bad, but they still get smashed in Baal, and any other place where my Frozen Orb Sorc lacks.
My merc is at my level (actually his XP is maxxed it seems, as everytime I level, he’s already just about to level himself)
I mean at 85, a blizzard build is basically finished. Levels only really give you hit points at that point.
Hell cows are lvl 82, with elite packs being 85 so yeah past a certain point xp-wise they-re worthless.
its fine alone up to ~92 with solo chaos runs only. the 91->92 takes noticeably more time tho
One of my characters is 90 and she went from 81 to 90 by mostly doing Ancient tunnel spamming in order to find high level loot.
Your merc should not be getting thrashed with that setup at all. Look up the inner cloister merc bug. You will take all the heat, but your merc will never die. Great for certain things like doing ancients.
I’ll just say it. Meteorb simply sucks. It is too slow to kill. Great in nightmare, but just terrible in hell. Sure. You can clear everything in the game if you are patient enough, but it isn’t worth it. A good merc and blizzard can beat the game easy, even ancients, solo.
